A while back there was a company called Turn2 that did track bike rentals. Cant find them anymore

anyone else do that still?

If you want little bikes on a little track, you can rent Ohvales at Brechin Motorsports Park.

Pro6 will rent you a track-prepped R6 for one of their track days for $400 plus a $5000(!) deposit. You provide fuel and a generator for the necessary tire warmers, though you may be able to ask that non-slicks are installed...

Look under the 'Bike Rentals' section here:

Trackday Guide - Pro 6 Cycle

I'm not sure it's a great deal, but will get you going in a pinch...

For that amount of money, there's also just track school i.e. FAST or Racer5

Turn2 went under 9 years or so ago.

Other than race schools and Pro6 above, I'm not sure who would rent. I think with Racer5, after you've done their course you can rent bikes for their track days, but I'm not 100% sure.

If it's something you're thinking of doing a few times, might just be worth it to buy an older track prepped R6 for a couple grand.

That's not horrendously different from this: Fly in and Ride! - Racing School Europe RSE - with Troy Corser

... except that package gets you on a MotoGP or WorldSBK track ...

... which is perhaps not what the original poster was looking for, but for those of us that are "experienced" and have bucket lists to check off ...

Ai yi yi, that's a package. Mugello with Troy Corser sounds like an alright way to spend three days. Maybe once I'm done putting a kid through university.

All the nickel and diming (oh, you weren't packing a ham sandwich and juicebox for lunch? That'll be €50!) reminds me a bit of luxury hotels with the $30/day internet fees...

Or you could do this (and I've done this): Phillip Island Ride Days

Not this year, though ...
More my speed for now. PI is up there with Mugello, Suzuka and Assen on my racetrack Mt Rushmore, and blind turn one on an S1000RR must be quite a thrill...

That pricing (in AUD, no less) also makes Pro 6 seem a wee bit overpriced...

It wants to wheelie the whole length of the front straight. The ocean is in view but you're too busy to look. Down 2 gears (should be 1 but I'm a pansy) and chuck it right, knee on the ground 200+ km/h. Down another gear for Southern Loop left. Then accelerate through a reaally fast sweeping left then you have to brake hard for 2nd-gear (should be 1st-gear but I'm a pansy) hard right hairpin. Few more kinks lead to the 200+ km/h left where Jonathan Rae went off track at WorldSBK round 1 in 2020 (just before the pandemic closed everything up). Up over Lukey Heights then hard brake for another hard hairpin right. Then accelerate around a couple of faster lefts onto the front straight; I was never happy with how I was going through those corners but the speeds involved were well beyond what I'm used to at Canadian tracks on my R3.

Cowes is a great little town. Jonathan Rae's wife is from there and still has family there. There's a restaurant whose owners have a connection to Simoncelli (lots of racing memorabilia there) and it's apparently Valentino Rossi's favorite eating spot there. Great breakfast spot just up the street. Nice waterfront with restaurants and bars all along it. We stayed at The Waves Apartments. It's a small town, and everything is within walking distance (and it's only a few km across the island to the track). I can't imagine how nuts this town would be during the GP. There's one two-lane bridge from Phillip Island to the mainland.

There's a neat wildlife preserve on the island ... you can hand-feed the kangaroos. And there's the parade of the penguins ...

Highly recommended.

I'm 18 - 20 seconds a lap off MotoGP/WorldSBK pace. They do 1:30-ish. I wanted to do a lap time that "starts with a 1". I did.

Forget who said it, but I recall an ex-racer saying those were his favourite corners of any track in the world, partly because they're so difficult to get right, and partly because when you do, you flow onto the front straight with a perfect ease that makes the lap incredibly satisfying.

Cowes is a great little town.
Apparently it's a favourite of the crews because it's among the most fun weekends on the calendar, though Alex Briggs would be a bit biased...

I'd say that's seriously impressive. My bet is it's a place best learned on something with less horsepower so all those wide-open corners don't come at you so fast...

with racer 5 you have to start with the 125s and then work your way up to 250s; and then 600s (for td rentals)

Hi all, I'm the OP.

Signed up for Racer5 this weekend. We camp on the track and they supply the bikes and gear excepting the helmet.

Their registration package said that successful completion of the course allowed you to rent their bikes, but no details on what. I assume you're right.

I'm excited beyond words:-D

Lots of great instructors will be there this weekend (like always) including my husband Kyle.

Have fun!
