Anyone know this track bike?

looking to get a track bike and I came across this one

http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...uzuki-GSX-R-600-Track-Bike-W0QQAdIdZ295804311

Now I'm not looking for a pearl, just something to get me started. My biggest concern is buying it, taking to the track and it is just a mess. (slipping clutch, leaking fluid, etc)

Just seeing if someone knows this bike. I will be driving to go see it soon, but want to make sure it is worth the drive

Thanks

Nick

Can't help you out, but looks half decent to me. Here's my question though:

I thought the GSXR600 and 750 were exactly the same bikes, except for the engine being bored out on the 750. So why would you need or want to swap the swingarm and forks?

Early 600's had regular right side up forks and a non braced swingarm.

The 750 uses a braced swingarm as apposed to a straight one on the 600, and the 750 has upside down forks instead of the conventional on the 600.

So you're expecting to buy a bike, without doing any maintenance to it and taking it straight to the track and you expect NOTHING to go wrong?

Are you trying to start an internet argument?

I'm not new to maintenance, but maintenance isn't something that is already broken.

All I'm asking is someone who might know the 'history' of this bike. I don't want to go get on the track and find out that the second gear is slipping, after I do 'maintenance' (oil, coolant, brake, chain slack, etc) understand?

How will me doing maintenance on it avoid something that is wrong with the bike already?

if i was looking for another track bike (which i am), i would be taking more time researching about the seller than the actual bike. The community is relatively small and most people either knows or has heard of most other ppl in said community. That being said, you can't really expect to dig up dirt on new track riders. Talk to the guy, ask the right questions, look at the bike - you're never going to get 100% piece of mind with any used vehicle. That's the price you pay - and in this case, you're not paying much for anything...

Thanks for the advice :)

I don't know that bike, but my track bike is an 01 GSXR 600, 32,xxx kms, with 600 forks and swingarm. These are great bikes but with all old machines you're going to be investing money in them every year as parts wear out. If you can't get any other info on it, have the seller agree to let you have a mechanic of your choice give it a once over. If he balks, there's the answer you've been looking for.

seems like a good price, i recently sold an 03 gsxr 600 for 3,100 with less mods. mine had no title either. great bike to do trackdays with, if you smash it, its not a huge investment.

just keep in mind that if you spend about $2000 more your options become much greater, a more expensive bike will be much easier to resell down the line then a 9 year old race bike.
