Anyone have an M21 die I could borrow

I need to re-thread my drive shaft as my Engine Nut got stripped (I'm assuming the previous owner did not tighten it to sepc. torque) and slightly flattened out the threads on the shaft. If anybody has one I can borrow or know where I may be able to purchase one, that would be appreciated. Thanks

Even if you find one, be very careful, especially if you had to borrow one. The output shaft is very hard steel. Likely harder than anything you have cut before. There is a chance your die will be damaged by the shaft OR you will break off whatever threads are left on the shaft.

Just be careful, and be aware.. and if possible, try to fix the threads with a triangular file.. with patience.

oh.. and you forgot to mention the thread pitch you need :D

Sure about the size? 21mm would be an exceedingly odd number - it is not one of the choices for a standard ISO thread size. If it is a non-standard diameter and pitch, you may have to get a machine shop to fix it, and for that, it's unlikely that it could be done with the engine assembled on the bike.

Due to the above-mentioned hardness of that shaft, it's possible that the threads on the shaft have picked up material out of the now-stripped nut, in which case, they can be cleaned off. The nut is designed to be sacrificial.

m21 is odd. Are you sure it isn't 13/16? DIA?

What is the pitch on that?

If it's a Hyosung it's probably supposed to be a M22... but the tooling has traditionally been such crap you end up with an in-between size.

Thanks guys for the responses. Yes it is a Hyosung, shaft just needed a little TLC with a file it seems. Just waiting for new Nut and sprockets. Everywhere I looked online says its an M21 I thought that was kind of odd too. BTW I believe it is a 1.5 pitch in case anyone else stumbles upon this tread while searching.
