Anyone with a lathe out there who can turn the head an m8x1.25 x 20mm or so socket head cap screw down to M6 or 10mm?

I tried putting the threaded part in a drill and holding the head against a metal file in a vise but this is taking way too long..

Thanks

It won't work.
If the head is 10mm in diameter and the shank is 8mm it only leaves 1mm to bear on.

Can you bore out the counter-bored hole the bolt goes into? or use an insert to get the threaded hole back to 6mm?

I can cut down the bolt heads for you if you want (I'm in Mississauga)... but you're looking for trouble down the road.

Thanks I saw a few places online that sell the reduced bolt but I agree it's not the best solution. No room to clearance the counter bore. After thinking about it I will use a m10 ezlok to get back to m6.I didn't really want to mess with the bikes frame but it is the right way to go.

Thanks for the reply.
