Anyone got input on this?!

I had a witness tell the entire story to two police officers at the scene. I pick up the accident report, and there is absolutely nothing under the witnesses box. I recall seeing the officer writing something down while my witness explained the story...maybe he was just doodling? They didn't seem interested in my story at all - instead favored the cager. My father even noticed this.

So...there goes my witness, i guess?

I always take the witnesses info and after all said and done I drop off a Tim's card or something to say thank you and sorry for the hassle.
Would have come in handy in this case.

I didn't get his info. I was rolling around on the pavement then in an ambulance. I'm just trying to understand why they wouldn't include it in the report. Is this normal practice? I've never been in an accident bad enough to need witnesses, so this is new to me. I do have both officers names and badge numbers, but I'm not sure if that has any significance at this point, other than filing a complaint or something (which I know will do absolutely nothing).

Thats the issue with getting into an accident with a cager while on a motorcycle.
You usually end up in an ambulance, while the cager tells the police how it was all your fault.

Of course I have had a witness write a letter and describe how an accident was all my fault.
He thought that I should have stopped for the guy who ran a stop sign and T-boned me.
Based on that my insurance company went after the other guy's for the costs.

Funny thing is, the guy who hit me (I wasn't moving), clearly told BOTH officers that the sun was in his eyes (and it truly was..and my bike is yellow)...yet I see no mention of that in the report.

Anyway...i guess that's just the it goes with our police. I was going to say "lesson learned"... but i'm not sure if there was a lesson. :( seems to me either way your fkd.

I've always wondered about this - is this strictly kosher? If people volunteered to be witnesses for me in an accident, I'd love to do something for them considering the hassle they're going to put themselves through. Rob?

When some chick ran a red light and T-boned my car there were 2 witnesses (Was pouring rain while they waited to give their statement) and the girl took me to court and remanded the case 3 times before the judge threw the book at her and gave her careless instead of failing to stop at a light. I felt bad because the witness got sepinade (???) and they had to show up and take 3 days off court becuase she didn't want her insurance to go up. I felt super bad so I bought them both a $20 Tim's card.

As a witness you HAVE to go to court of you can be charged, It just ruins te person's outlook on doing the right thing as the one lady said she will never write a statement for another accident unless someone is seriously hurt. Its sad that you get screwed by trying to do the right thing as a witness.

As a witness you HAVE to go to court of (assuming you mean "or") you can be charged,

no, you have to go if you have been subpoenaed.

I mentioned that I just didn't know how to spell it and didn't feel like looking it up lol.
Not 100% but I believe you can be charged with contempt of court or something along those lines if they really wanted to.
