Anyone ever tried to install a Stebel horn on a sportbike?

Where the **** do you put it? I tried the stock location but this thing is way bigger than the stock horn and one good compression of the front shocks and either the horn or the front fender or both are toast.

I think you can seperate the compressor from the horn and use air hoses to connect them.

I've heard of people doing this, I've ever separated it myself but I havent installed it yet so I dont know if it works.

I used to put mine near one of my rearsets using a custom bracket but I took it off because I dont really ride in the city anymore so no need for a loud horn.

I BARELY had enough room. Would have separated otherwise.

Check under your farings up top. My compressor is jubilee clipped to the substructure that supports the upper faring (move the bars side to side to make sure you have no binding), I run a hose down to the separated horn that I put on my front engine slider.

Be careful when separating if this is what you do, some horns are epoxied to the compressor, some aren't. I screwed my compressor up and need a new one as I was a bit violent taking it off.

The Stebel does not have an epoxied compressor / annunciator; they separate easily. I've a Stebel Nautilus on my BMW and separated the parts, putting the compressor under the tank and annunciator on one of the forks above the triple-clamp within the fairing. The only concern when planning an install is that the compressor must remain vertical otherwise it can fail after a short time. It is advisable to mount the annunciator with the mouth facing down so that rain does not enter the horn and ruin the mechanism.

I have it installed on my 05 sv650s fit was tight but didn't have to seperate it.

Same here with an 07 SV650s. I had to fabricate a small metal bracket to hold the horn in place, which was the hardest/most time consuming part of the install.

yep, installed on several. Get creative. search online for others who have done this. It will be amazing what you will find. Other bikes may be similar to yours

I have a true Stebel not a copy and I can absolutely tell you it was epoxied. Read up on various installs on the web and you'll find some people had this problem. It's a complete bugger to get them separated when they are epoxied but it is possible.

I had a true stebel as well. They could have started/stopped that practice at some point in time.

Is there anywhere local to buy these horns?
