anyone ever sold anything to a pawn shop?

It really depends on what you're selling and the market value. Of course they're going to give you the lowest price they can since they need to make money off what they're buying from you.

If you pawn it, they pay around 10-20% of its value. There's also Cash Converters. What happened, your GF said no when you showed her the ring?

They aren't like "Pawn stars" on TV where they actual find the value for you then make an offer, If you don't know what they are worth don't expect them to be honest with you.

Throw them on Kijiji?

pawn shops will pay money for it, but at a fraction of the value as they are a business and need to make money, so paying you what they're worth ain't gonna happen...putting them up on kijiji is free and may be worth the effort just to see the interest, or on craigslist, but you will have to deal with the trash on there too...kijiji is good once you have it figured out...

got some old swarovsky crystals i wanna sell but not sure where to find buyers. perhaps ebay?

I might know someone if they're clear / silver crystal, pm me some pics and asking prices. No coloured items.

An article in I think it was the Economist said the speculators only pay about 10% of the product value to ensure they can make a profit if they have to wait for a buyer. The pawn shop is speculating on the right buyer coming in at the right time with the means to pay.
Commodities are different. Gold is X per oz, Oil Z per barrel, stocks per the market price.
I'm not into crystal so wouldn't give a dime unless I new where I could flip them immediately.
You could also try a consignment shop. Some flea markets buy and sell but some close up about now.
