1996 Pathfinder 3.3L. Has an intermittent start problem, done it 4 times in last 6 months hot or cold BUT only if it's raining out. It cranks and catches, but won't stay running. Cranking with pedal floored just makes it catch/crank/catch/crank at a higher rpm. My Scangauge shows no codes. Pulled a plug and it was soaked in fuel. Pulled the fuel pump relay, cranked the engine without touching the pedal and it starts immediately and runs for 4 seconds or so until fuel rail pressure is zero. Put the relay back in and it starts and runs perfectly until the next time. New plugs, cap and rotor, injector cleaner and throttle body cleaning had no effect.

Dodgy distributor, crank/cam sensor, any ideas, TSB's on this???

I had the same problem in a 92 Nissan pickup. Turned out to be deteriorating spark plug wires and water getting into the fuel because of small holes in the tank.

Probably needs new plug and coil wires

Just to close the thread off I think the issue has been fixed. After going through all the sensors, grounds etc. I ended up replacing the distributor on the advice of a NPORA Nissan tech. Apparently the camshaft sensor located in the distributor gets knackered and causes intermittent no spark conditions.

test it 1st ....Run it and spray water around or on it...see if the Rpms jump
