Any Ural owner's know if there is a demo day at any dealerships in Ontario this summer? Or do they even do that kind of thing?

Ken at Old Vintage Cranks is one of the most accomodating guys around, and even he doesn't allow test rides. Until you're used to them, they're really fairly difficult to control. I started mine the first time and promptly drove straight into a pine tree. Allowing Ural test rides would be an open invitation to be able to order lots of parts at a test-riders expense, but the bikes are actually extremely tough to damage seriously. I'm in Guelph, but you'd be welcome to take mine down the road for a few minutes. You'll know pretty much immediately if it's for you or not...

thx

I would be happy to take you up on the test ride...PM me.

My friends called my Ural, the Carnival Ride. I used to take people for rides around the parking log on Monday Night Ice Cream meets, at La Paloma. I could sometimes wheelie the front tire and sometimes, if the passenger was small enough, I could fly the sidecar in the air.
I only ever let a couple of people actually drive it. It is so different from controlling 2 wheels. The only really tricky/dangerous part of driving a sidecar rig are right hand turns. Those can go very bad, very fast, if you don't know what you are doing.

I know I'm a little late to this thread (should been reading this site loooooooooooooooooong ago), but if you're still interested in checking out a Ural you're more than welcome to meet up in the Oshawa area sometime. I'm on vacation for the next few weeks and I'm planning on doing some work to the bike and going for rides

I would love to take you up on it, but alas I am in St. Marys. A wee bit too far. Absolutely love the look of Ural's, seriously considering selling my Triumph and getting one.

tonymorgan, any chance of seeing yours in Guelph? Much closer - not sure I want to go for a ride, but I do have a ton of questions.

rev if you have time, go to hillsburgh on Reg 25 north of 124. There's a small bike shop just as you come into town who sells Urals, and Royal Enfields. He probably won't let you test one but he'll gladly talk to you about, their prices, advantages etc. Last time I was in there (a couple weeks ago) he had two complete machines ready for the road that really looked awesome. I just don't have the cash to drop on them (even if I did sell my Vulcan500LTD).

Didn't realize but the name of the shop is probably Old Vintage Cranks as has been mentioned already in this thread.
