When I was looking into getting a tattoo, I found out that 2 of Toronto's best artists used to have a shop together. They split up and one of them started up Archive Tattoo on Dundas. I forgot the other guy's name, but the one at Archive's legit & the waiting list doesn't lie :p

But in looking for an artist, I also realized that there are plenty who are very skilled and good enough.

I want to tatoo the word "super snake" on the side of my penis

The other guy wad rob coutts. Him and david owned bobbyfive tattoo.
I would say bill baker at pearl harbour gift shop. David glantz at archive. And jacqeuline at yonge st tattoo are the top in the city. It is a very subjective area though.

Thanks for clearing that up. I find tattoos to be a lot like graffiti (excepet they're permanent). Although art will always have a degree of subjectivity, the best artists are the one that can transition from style to style with ease. From the work that I've seen, Rob & Dave are easily one of the best. But like I said earlier, there are plenty of amazing artists who are good enough for most tattoos.
