Any insurance i can get that doesn't require rider training?

hey folks,

i grew up on dirt bikes - and I feel very comfortable around motorcycles even though I've never officially had my licence. Anyway - I was thinking of getting a small 250cc bike to commute to and from work - a distance of only 8kms. Anyway - I really don't want to do a driver training course because I'm extremely confident my skills are beyond their teachings (something I've researched) Anyway - I'll do it if I have no other insurance choice - but was wondering if anyone knew of a broker that will take someone with just an M1 and no driver training...also - are their prices reasonable?

Does anyone REQUIRE rider trailing??

State farm offers no discount if you have done the training, so if you're not getting the training I'd start there. Give my girl Katherine a call, tell her Crazy Jamie sent ya: (866) 930-1221

I believe State Farm requires a G licence before they'll insure u for moto.

Do you have a G class Licence, if so for how long?

You having your m1 for only 1-3mo. expect an *** raping from any insurance company.

Yes, you will be able to obtain insurance on the bike, however it will be more expensive since the motorcycle training course was not completed. Try contacting the brokers on this forum in the insurance specialist section. There are insurers out there that require the training to be completed if one has not held a motorcycle license for X amount of years, but this is not across the board with all companies.

+1...no one cares about rider training.

OP you're way past the age of having to worry about insurance, especially on a 250...just get your M1 then do the exit test yourself through the ministry. If you have previous experience its a joke.

I paid $3500 my first year at 19 for a 250 with an M1 and no training, at 29 you can expect less than half that.

It will be way less than half if he quailfys for SF.
It will probably be in the $800/year range, $500/year with your car with them

This is not entirely true. Some will not insure you if you have held your motorcycle license less than a few years without the motorcycle training course.

I think he is talking about SF, As long as you have had your G for 5 years they don't care about your M license.

This. With SF it's same rate for M1, M2, M, and they dun care if you've have training or not (no discount, even if you have it!).
