Looked all through the rides/hookups thread and didnt see one. Is there one i dont know about ? this has been my first season and was hoping to find some more experienced DS riders to show me some cool routes with abit of street and dirt.
What's the deal here? I wanted to register on their site to ask for / get info from their forum, but it looks like you have to join OFTR for 80$ or something first. Did I miss something?
Do most folks trailer green plated bikes to the rides? Are there no roads involved?
looks like in Ontario you've got to pay for a trail membership to ride legally. Most places that are private land don't appreciate bikes ripping thru it. Probably best to head to the Ganaraska forest and buy a day pass or head to Northern ontario and find some crown land with few people about.
I typically go into Pennsylvania to ride forest trails with US riding buddies. It's about 6 hours ride til we get there but there's always a good time. One of the girls has a hunting cabin in a ravine and we crash for the weekend there and do day trips out.
I'd love to find more areas in Ontario to ride dualsport trails with a big bike (I have an F800GS). Single track isn't my thing unless I've got a smaller bike. I think the term "adventure touring" sounds a bit dumb but that's pretty much what we end up doing on big bikes with knobbies. We found a few dry river beds last year and some "no winter maintenance" roads that were pretty gnarly.
I might have to join the OTFR to find some more routes closer to home.
