Any cheap way to rubberize something?

Googled, couldn't find.

Does anyone know a cheap way to rubberize something?

I found some thing called plasti-dip, but it is hard to find and I am not sure how well it works.

Is there any other way of coating metal with a rubber-ish sort of product?

Rocker guard.

I use this on all my 4-wheeled vehicles.
You can get it in a gallon too and can be applied by brush and roller. Not sure what you want to use it for, you didn't mention.

There's this too, but I prefer Rocker Guard

You can get spray-on Plasti-Dip at Home Hardware stores, although I haven't seen the liquid dip kind. I've also used the spray truck bedliner coating stuff. I found both to peel off fairly easily, but maybe I just didn't do the prep right.

Truck bed liner or that plati-dip might work, but I guess I should have stated my purpose:What I am working on is designing a horizontal guitar holder (mounted on the wall), so I want a barrier between the guitar surface and the metal holder. One experiment I am considering trying, if I can't find a suitable commercial product, is mixing dollar store epoxy with tiny silicon beads (or similar) and coating the metal ends with this mixture.

I think I've seen the liquid dip at Home Hardware in the paint section - Oak Ridges. I'm sure you could find it at Home Depot, Brofasco or Canadian Tire as well.

they sell plastidip at homehardware, i bought some 2 years ago, works great. same concept as spray painting, apply thin coats. but they do last.

if u dont like the results u can wait for it to dry peel it off and do it again.

+1 to Plastidip. I bought it by the gallon from the manufacturer and dipped all my clamps for the Chemistry Lab in it. It took a couple of coats, but works well. Toluene will eat it though, so it might not be so good in a garage, but for your purpose it should be good.

If you can't find the plastic coating material, you might want to try plastic tubing... I think you can buy it a Home Depot, or any pet shot that sells aquariums might have the really small gauge stuff.

Cdn Tire does not sell Plasti-Dip anymore. I tried a few weeks ago to find it and was told its no longer available there. Lowes has never heard of it and neither had Home Depot (???). You could always use Pipe Wrap (foam tubes for covering water pipes)

If the holder is not visible when the guitar is hanging on it, then I would do on eof the following.. both are real simple and real cheap.
1) stick on some velcro (the soft pieces, not the hard) where the guitar will come in contact with the mount
or
2) stick on some felt pads on the contact areas.. from CT or Home Depot. The ones that go on the bottom of chair/table legs/feet. You can get round ones or larger sheets that you can cut to size.

If the part is a piece of bent steel heat shrink may work. Sayal has it in different sizes and colours. Some dip coatings may react with the guitar varnish over time.

Plasti-Dip is easy to find. I've seen it at 3 different motorcycle shops, Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Home Depot...
