ST. CATHARINES - A serious collision closed Niagara Street at the QEW overpass in St. Catharines for a portion of the early morning, Oct. 5.
At approximately 12:45 a.m. Monday morning, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, St. Catharines Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service were dispatched for a single motorcycle collision on Niagara Street at the QEW overpass in St. Catharines.

Initial investigation revealed that a 40-year-old male resident of St. Catharines was the sole occupant, operating his 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle north bound on Niagara Street. Police say he failed to negotiate the curve in the road and lost control of the motorcycle.

The driver suffered life-threatening injures and was transported to the Niagara Heath System's St. Catharines site by ambulance before being air lifted to the Hamilton Health Sciences General Hospital Site in critical condition.

This collision remains under investigation Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Services Unit.

Any witnesses with information regarding this collision are asked to contact investigators at 905-688-4111, extension 5500.

Hope he pulls through alright.

There's an old saying -- Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly... -- Go easy on those curves people.
