An interesting contrast in riding styles

Hoffman, makes up time on the brakes. Laverty has the corner speed and exit drive.

At least, that's how I see it. Laverty practically lies down on the pavement in some corners. :o

When it comes to lean angles, I would have to go with MotoGP. In Indianapolis, going through turn 4, the lean angle were the most extreme I have seen in person . With the leg completely tacked in, the rider's leg was no more than 2-3" from touching the asphalt.

I had the opportunity to watch the 2012 WSBK races in Portimão. I was also amazed with the lean angles that most of the riders were taking turn 2&3.

MotoGP tires (sorry, tyres) are also unique to that series, I believe. I've read that they custom-build the tire to the rider's preferences. That's likely part of the reason they can lean so far over.

No, not true. Bridgestone is the sole supplier of MotoGP tires and they custom make tires for specific tracks. in hard, medium and soft compounds + rain tire. The riders get to choose which tires they want. Back in 2006 when the Ducs ruled one reason was that Michelin i believe had a tire making machine go to the tracks and custom make tires for the Ducatis...since switching to Bridgestones Ducatis fell off the face of the planet and Rossi and everyone always complain about front end feel. Michelin was able to work around it and help Ducati be competitive, now, not so much.

I think you're getting some facts mixed up. Desmosedicis have run Bridgestones since at least 2005. Last time I saw a Michelin-Man logo on the front fender was on the GP4, and the only Sedici in the top 10 that year was Capirossi in 9th. They won the championship in 2007 with Bridgestones. It was Michelin that was having problems with rule-changes in 2007 regarding last-minute tire deliveries which contributed to Rossi's loss (and also that Stoner is a monster).

When Rossi switched to Bridgestone at the start of the 2008 season, he won the championship that year.

Poor Hoffman...questions his motivation after retiring early from a GP race, get sacked, and now he must be questioning his motivation to follow Laverty around as his personal GoPro mount!
