Appears to be US only for now. Most shoppers don't make much money off the pharmacy anyway (some do, but a lot have the pharmacy as a break-even department). Cosmetics makes the money, the pharmacy brings them into the store to browse. Costco is cheaper if you are paying for drugs, if insurance is paying people pick somewhere that makes them happy or is easy. It would be interesting to see the demographics of people that switch to Amazon.

I find most insurance companies will only pay for generic drugs which is a lesser cost.

don't understand the Amazon hate
most items we buy are a commodity
don't need a bricks and mortar store or sales clerk help
if I can save dough and get it delivered it's a win-win

those things that I need to see and try on or whatever
sure, I'm okay with paying the premium for bricks and mortar/humans

bike shops are a perfect example
went to the largest Yamaha dealer in the city
looking for chain and sprockets for a current production bike
they had 5 of them on the show room floor

special order, maybe get it next week, pay 100% first
are you effing kidding me? a chain?
a crankshaft, yeah, that would be special order

tell me why I shouldn't buy online instead ?

I shop amazon often, usually get my stuff with in 2 days. most is for my bikes

Its a legit fear about bezos accumulating ungodly amounts of power and wealth, beyond just the scope of e commerce

Dude has defense contracts and works with the CIA now, also owns major newspapers

Wanna know how he cornered the diaper market? Sold them at a loss till his competitors went out of business

he personally owns WaPo - it's not an Amazon Co
which is a good thing, otherwise it'd be gone
it is one of a handful of news outlets that still deal in real news
with source checking and editors and stuff

we have that and NYT for Progs
WSJ and Economist for Cons

if he hadn't bought it, it would have turned into a HuffPost type of internet rag

Amazon lost the $10B Def Dept contract to MS (with some help from POUTUS)
I still see diapers for sale everywhere I go

yeah the dude is filthy rich
so what? he earned every cent of it

you have to respect that when he needed a little strange
he made his ex the wealthiest woman alive
no public fighting or running her down to the press
treatment she deserved as well as all the $$

My only comment about Bezos is that the guy treats workers like crap while he is earning $2000 a second. You would think that based on the **** his parents had to go through when they came to the US he would have a little more empathy. I also spend more time on the phone with Amazon reversing charges that seem to be "added in" than I do buying things

It will be interesting to see what happens when Biden takes over. He has said that he is open to breaking up Big Tech, or at least strengthening anti trust. They did help to get him elected though so I wonder if they are expecting a little quid pro quo

The DOJ are filing an antitrust law suit against Google but that was under Trump. We'll see if it gets dropped

Under a Harris presidency big tech will be fairly safe and I think this is a real possibility. I don't think Biden will see out his first year.

not looking good for some stores with pharmacy in them

It's not in Canada, so Shoppers has nothing to worry about.

Not sure how much they'll be interested in the Canadian market - our drug costs are so much less here that profits are pretty slim - basically nothing on the drugs in a lot of cases, only the dispensing fee. To the contrary in the USA, there's profits to be made on the drugs themselves - a fairly significant profit in many cases.

Never say never I guess, but it's potentially a lot of regulatory hurdles and investments necessary for what may be considered a pittance of profit here comparatively.

Any truth to the rumor KTM changing over to Amazon as their exclusive North American dealer?

I dunno but parts will probably be shipped a lot quicker

Thing i see is dealers don't want to warehouse parts, cost of inventory is gone crazy from what i was told. i find online shopping is a way to receive the parts or item quicker.

I can order from Amazon and have it delivered to the kids in the west , entire product for the cost of shipping out of Ontario.

Working with a small local pharmacist , even the guy at Walmart, will have your history and advise you "hey , dont take that XX with the YYY your already on" "your family doctor will kill you" . A good pharmacist is essential to good life when you are old
You will not get this from Amazon.

If your just buying blue pills, carry on Studdly...

I think Amazon does have the pharmacist tech -- they bought an American online pharmacy a while back for a gazillion dollars. Pill Pack provided written info on the interactions for any meds you were getting thru them.

The march of technology. I'm guessing prescription eyewear and opticians might be in Amazon sights, not everyone needs to pay Pearl $500 a pair for glasses that cost $20 to make.
