Maybe this is old news but the last few times I went through Algonquin on the road that connects the East and West gate, roughly Whitney to Dorset, there were roadworks, gravel and lots of slowdowns. Was there yesterday and they were painting lines on what is now brand new tarmac all the way through the park (I think it’s the whole route, I stopped halfway and turned around with no sign of roadworks anywhere) and the best news is it’s 80 limit everywhere instead of the 60 or less it was in parts in previous years.
Some nice stops along the way and a cafe at Lake of Two Rivers general store, roughly halfway along the road. Some moose viewing opportunities if you time it right, I saw one right on the highway a few years ago. Lots of camping opportunities too, midweek you can drop in and you’re usually fine for a space. I’ll be doing this in a few days I think. It’s glorious up there right now. Maybe see if I can get to go on a wolf howl this time.
