i checked that thread with the chart, but its kinda old now (like me...time for this old man to retire soon jkz).

Ive just hit 30 last week, now im hoping to get some better rates.
im on a 09 CBR600RR 100% Stock (cough....ok its moderately modded...but i can make it look stock.) with SF and it has a GPS alarm system with SMS for when the alarm gets triggered, parked in private garage... its not used as primary to go to and from work but occasional i will and it would be in a private lot with motorcycle only designated parking section that is also on 24 hr surveillance (basically im a very low theft risk). its grouped with my car so last year i was paying $82 a month but my car being a Cadillac isnt cheap... i think like $230...:angry6: including that property insurance they tack on to get you a better total discount.
ive found a coupe other companies that will make my car cheaper but wont cover SS bike, separating the car would boost the rates about $50 a month on the bike i believe it was with SF.

does SF have a age 30+ discount?
any other ins companies i can go to with a SS now that im 30? ide like to have some options on the bike.

no tickets or at fault claims... ever. im on my 2nd M2 because my first 1 ran out and ill be going for my M this summer.
insurance renewal is in april i believe so im not in a rush.

any brokers on here feel free to PM me or hop in here.

From what I've heard from some friends once you have your full m allstate is well worth looking into. They require 30 and up with a full m and I don't believe they do stand alone bike policies. Could be worth the phone call and wait for your m.

If you pull your car out of policy with SF your bike policy will go up 40%. so you will be around the $115/month range which still isn't too bad.
And weird how your Cadillac is really expensive to insure as they are in the lower end of the insurance bracket of cars of the same value as they have less claims than most other cars.

ive had a lot of trouble getting a good rate on the CTS over the years, i think its because the repair cost is just soo high if something happens and it was one of the highest stolen cars for a few years.

just did a online quote with allstate, $233 standard and $244 deluxe coverage a month for the CTS...ive got the luxury Sport model which probably raises it a little.. but shes got a few years on her now, ive had it 7 or 8 yrs.

I'd call a broker. Might be even less.

the 233 for the CTS is the same SF is charing me. if i leave SF for the car my bike rates go up.

insurance companies really need to start basing the rate off the driver, not the vehicle.

trying to say to say ppl should pay the same rate for a tercel vs a mp412c? dream come true

i think i heard florida insures the driver not the car, then they add based on theft rates or something like that.

and ya technically they should. just because you drive a crazy fast car doesnt mean you are going to drive like a total nut, but then the guy in the tercel thinks hes a pro drifter and ebrakes corners in school zones.
who is a higher risk? the guy who cares about car? doubt it..

i thought the largest drop in cost was around 25 for insurance, and then of course slow and steady as you get older.

i thought it was 21, 25, 30 then basically hover there... i know i got a big reduction at 21 when i called them, slight 1 at 25 and we will see about 30.. i remember hearing some companies wont cover you if you are under 30 but that was years ago.... i think 1 of them was primmum

thanks ill give him a call.

i just spoke with my broker and i dont kow if they gave me the right info or not...
right now im paying just over a grand a year on the bike(1025 i think she said), apparently the multi line discount gives a discount on the car NOT the bike.
i asked if my motorcycle rate would change if i removed my car and she said no it would stay the same.

any state farm brokers on here that can confirm this? bike by itself stays at the cheaper rate?

I would be calling another State Farm broker, My brother and I both have our bike insurance through State Farm, He added his cars and I didn't( Only because my cars were considerably cheaper through a group plan at work than SF), His bike insurance dropped substantially when he added his cars and was given a multi-line discount on his bike

Things work this way because it is easy for them to quantify the higher risk of the "crazy fast car". It doesn't always work out the way you might expect. E.g. compare a BMW Z4 to a V6 Chevrolet Camaro in the following list.
