Hello...Nicole here. New to all of it; I am just reading up on the rules of the road, taking a look at some of the online sites, youtube postings for tips for new riders to consider and just looking forward (read: anxiously giddy) about taking the classes in the spring....

Thinking of getting a scooter for starters as the insurance will be easier and I worry about not being able to transition from being a workday commuter in a car to a rider...

Took a three hour clinic and found it all overwhelming but it may have had to do with the number of people and the rainy conditions.

I didn't know how to stand and walk at one point but over time I seem to have conquered that one so I am going to approach learning to ride safely with the same caution and tenacity:cool:

Welcome Nicole. What is this 3 hour clinic you speak of? I've never heard of it.

Maybe one of the 'get your feet wet' courses? I know I recommended that one to a number of friends as they provide the gear/you don't need a license.

Nicole -- Welcome to the forums, and just keep reminding yourself spring is coming, spring is coming, albeit kinda slowly lol. Regarding the bike vs scooter, have you looked into what a 125cc or 250cc motorcycle would cost both to buy & insure? Might be a better idea if you are planning on a bike in future, plus you'd also learn shifting and clutch control right from the get-go vs having to pick it up later (which might be harder to do).

I very much agree with this. Nicole, look into a 125 or 250. I was talking to the instructors when i did my course last year, and ironically enough they were telling me how 2 people in the past few weeks prior failed because they just couldnt grasp it because of the difference. Now im not familiar with scooters and the big difference.
But regardless, if at the end of the day you want a motorcycle shoot for that now. IMO

Welcome!

And I think I know about those courses, Centennial offers them for would-be riders to test the waters.

Welcome!!
