The first three characters indicate the model code in which the part was first used. The next group is the part number. The last four are for versions and revisions and updates. This appears to have started out as a Yamaha 450 ATV part based on that.
If the model code changes, the part has changed, but that doesn't guarantee interchangeability. You have to find out from the dealer whether the different / revised part (with a different model code) actually supercedes the prior one.
For example, YZF600 crank main and rod bearings supercede FZR400 crank main and rod bearings and are completely interchangeable (been there, done that). A YZF600 upper fairing probably has the center group of numbers the same as the FZR400 does - that's their number for "upper fairing" - but it's not interchangeable because the two different model codes are for two entirely different sets of bodywork.
A blue body panel versus a red one will have differences in the second last group of digits - it's a different version of the same part. Interchangeable if you are colour-blind, but it's not the same part (because of the colour).
Bottom line, you either have to know your stuff, or find out from the dealer.
