A lot of potholes this year?

Anyone else feel like there have been way too many potholes this year? I don't remember last winter or any winters before that being this bad..

There is a nasty one on 403 near hamilton that is about 3/4 of the entire lane. Right lane on DVP S before Bloor/Bayview has several huge ones. There're all over city streets, feels like I'm playing mario kart while driving.

Why is it so bad thsi year?

rain/water seeping in small cracks/road imperfections and expanding during freezing temps. Now let this happen x amount of times over the winter and you can play whack-a-tire come spring

One stretch on the way in this morning now looks like a mine field. Sadly this entire area was just repaved this past summer

Ever went on the on ramp from 401W to 410 North and notice the amount of holes between the lanes? Imagine a bike getting stuck in that while switching lanes.

I think there is a lot more people smoking pot this year... Hence more pot holes.. Simple theory of supply n demand

High Traffic Act (HTA) = more potholes

There is a way to avoid potholes and assorted road problems. The downside is that it costs more than 1 penny so the geniuses that run our government say they are saving the taxpayer gravy by buying the cheapest asphalt possible that contains used motor oil and tires and then spend many times the cost of the clean stuff by having a road crew always out there fixing things. "Ongoing maintenance."

There's already enough a**holes on the road, what's a few potholes?

Finch Av west at Chesswood just going under the rail bridge is awful. Couple of those could swallow a Smart car.

Bumping this thread because there are still massive potholes appearing in the city, and we have riders that will be anxious to be getting on the road soon. This is particularly directed at those that have bought their first bike in the off season and will be riding for the first time - it is imperative that you are paying attention to the road, many of these potholes are big enough to potentially throw you off your bike. And with the melt we are having today, some of *those* now just look like harmless puddles.
