Hey guys bought a 2009 kx100 for my son and I assume it needs to be insured but he's only 14.how do I go about insuring this bike?Any help would be appreciated.oh and he rides on my parents neighbours property up in Peterborough.
Thanks

Call your property insurance company. You will want physical coverage for it to insure it for fire, theft, etc. you will also want liability coverage if the bike injures someone.

Remember this is NOT like vehicle insurance. There is NO coverage if you or a member of your household hurts THEMSELVES using it. Also, there is NO coverage of the use of the item itself (ie, it sustains damages from riding off road). Make sure you ask for any other optional coverages would be available and read the endorsement carefully.

Thank you very much pretty much answer all my question but what if the police showed up somewhere we were riding would we need proof of insurance like you would with a normal street bike?

There are so few legal places left to ride a dirt bike anyways.
But yes, when you find one of those places it is allowed, you will need an offroad plate and insurance

You can insure the bike in your name and I think there is a section there so that your son is insured also while riding. You can get insurance for all kinds of damage,a few years ago State Farm paid for a new helmet, pants and time off work after I had fallen and dislocated my shoulder at the ganny.Just depends what you want to pay for insurance.
