A few pics from this year's Deal's Gap trip

Every year we stay at a house near the Cherohala for a week (my 11th year with this group) and ride all day, then make nuisances of ourselves until the buzz wears off. This year I met up with some Aprilia owners and also BrianP and friends from Ontario.

Some pics from this year:

Gas station is closed at the end of Wayah this year.

Two-strokes were everywhere.

Most, but not all, of our crew. 13 people in the house this year.

Fiddy races. Two of our members raced (Vaughn Ivey and Anthony Cappadonna).

Two of us came all the way from California, bringing three kegs of beer, a RSV and a RFV 400 (NC-35) converted back to street use.

Firing AR-15. We had two 9mm pistols, a .45 pistol and a .38 revolver as well. I'm a better shot with the .45, apparently, than the AR-15.

This is what a 6'7" Norgie looks like on a fiddy. He flew from South Africa this year to the event. :D

28 highway. I got pretty stupid riding with a guy on a Panigale on 28, turned out to be a local cop who proceeded to warn me of where patrols were. :)

We had fiddy races at the house, too. A fair amount of blood was shed, as you'd expect. I stacked hard, myself.

I mentioned kegs. Did i mention kegs?

Ah yes, the RSV4 in action.

Love the new pipe and the matching (sort of?!) helmet.

If I haven't mentioned them, we had kegs.

Some of our bikes. The red GSXR is the bike I owned for three years and sold to my friend Jay.

Best home cooking in the area. On 28, North/East of the 143 before 28 goes four-lane.

Blasting off the .45. The shoes are the cheapest ones I own, $35. So don't be another one to mention them. LOL

2nd best picture ever taken of me. Think this one will go on my office wall.

Blasting Hillbilly Hand Grenades (tannerite mix, explosive targets)

Great year, makes me want to go back yet again.

Did I! We had some genuine TN moonshine, too. lol

And a couple of messages for you from one of the fiddy racers. ;)

Looks like an awesome time. Post some vids if you made any. Fiddy races look like fun! Pretty sure I've seen that NC35 with the Cabin Racing scheme on BARF too.

I need to take a week off and tow my bike down there with a couple friends this summer.

I do have some videos but they're raw dumps at the moment. Not too exciting, helmet cam seems to really take the speed and lean angle out of a bike. *sigh* There are some on the Cherohala that do the ride some justice, though.

You probably did see that bike on BARF, as he lives in the Bay Area and so do his Califlake friends. LOL I've known Valgar, Moike, JB, Romonster and many of the others for more than a decade.

A couple of good pictures of the RVF, since you're not likely to see one anywhere else.

You're in the Kingston Crotch Rocket Riders FB group... I recognized some of the shots, and especially the sexy RSV4. Beauty shots out there!

Function vs. form, I suppose. It's surprising how quick the bike is... not that it happened of course, but I'm led to understand that they'll do 90mph or so uphill on a road like the Cherohala. Nope, couldn't have happened.

FYI I did not see a single police car on the 'hala this year and overall the amount of bikes and cars was dramatically less than years past. Compared to 2006, the whole area was empty. Oh, and other than two trooper cars on Saturday (3rd) the Gap was very lightly patrolled, and by TN motorcycle cops when it was. They seemed to be leaving anyone alone that didn't look like they were being reckless... as per all the traffic tickets being thrown out because the state never had the permission to change the speed limit, they appear to be much more reserved.

I've just seen different brackets for the same conversion and they keep the caliper up close to the fork leg. He only got it up to 90mph though? Not impressed. You sure that's not a bad estimate from you passing him like he's going backwards while you shift into 2nd gear??

That's good to know about the cops though. Less chance of getting busted is always good.

A little video. You get a better look at the bikes, etc. in part 2 starting at around 2:15. Kind of neat.

Corner is marked 25mph, iirc. I'm sure that's exactly the speed these riders were going. ;)

Note difference in sound between the v65, 180 degree firing order in the RSV4 engine, and the v90, 360 degree firing order engine in the NC-35.

ULTRA quick and dirty video compo from this year's Deal's Gap trip. This took me an hour, front to back. So I'm not kidding about it being ultra quick. I have to do a bunch of video editing and decided to throw this together so as to get some of my "chops" back. Not that I'm great at it in the first place, lol

Nice, as soon as I saw the deck and the ramp I knew it was the treetops lol. Been staying there for a week every July since 07, And heading back down this July :D.
