9R Oil leak question, for mechanically inclined...

Good day, got a question in regards to the oil leak in Valve cover, its a California model 9R, so its got an emission valve on it.

Been pulling the engine out the other day and noticed this, the valve cover looks pretty clean on that side, but the amount of oil situated on top and that blew in the air filter is ridiculous.

Anyone had experience with oil gashing out through the emission valve, and if anyone had, how bad is it, comparing to just valve cover leak fix???

Two potential causes: overfill of oil, or major compression blow-by on the pistons.
If the compression is ok, likely just too much oil.
The oil is coming from the crankcase through a tube that dumps the vapor into the airbox to get sucked into the engine and burned. It the past, this tube just went down to the ground.

A quick compression check will tell you what's going on.

Bike is running like a champ, OIL level is fine, no misfiring or loss of power... And, another thing, this bike has not ran in 6 years, it sat in the garage, starts from first kick.

So... what you see in the picture is basically been there for 6 years undetected, until i took the tank off this year...

So it could have been overfilled once in 6 years. Just clean it up and you're good.

Ye, i guess I will see if it starts to sip out again, after cleanup.
Now that i look at the pictures a bit more, i think i should-of checked the torque on the valve cover bolt in that area.
