93 VFR750 leaking oil

Hi,

Not too sure what's going. I replaced my cam/valve cover gaskets as they were leaking. First startup after everything except two engine panels are back on I got a heavy oil leak from the hole mid-cylinder.

Any ideas?

Not too sure what's going on. Installed new gaskets, cleaned up the mounting surfaces. Only the left front one is leaking. It's coming from the holes in the center of the side of the cylinder head. Only the front left.

You usually have to put some sealant in the corners of the gasket when it dips down before you assemble it . Its in most of the honda manuals. I usually just use the grey or black permatex stuff, but im sure almost any quality sealant would work . ...

Also pay attention to the rubber washers under the bolts. They get hard, and thiner over time , creating less clamping force. Even on my 02 cbr1100xx they were much thiner and almost brittle , than the replacement ones. The cam cover bolts have shoulders on them and strip or break if you tighten them too much . The only way to get more clamping force is to replacethe rubber washers. On a 30 year old bike Im sure they are are long past their prime.

Those holes drain the spark plug holes.

Between the valve cover and the head, there should be a circular gasket surrounding each spark plug hole. I betcha those gaskets are misplaced.

Spark plug drain hole as per facebook. Not the cam cut out, but the hole in the middle of the cylinder. I'm guessing my left front sparkplug gasket isn't sitting correctly.
