On 9/11, 2001 a terrible tragedy occurred, nearly 3,000 people were killed yet there's never been a straight answer as to what led up to it, what really happened and why.
America, you have a way of mythologizing history without examining and learning from it, now might be the right time.
I am proud of Canada, we did our best to help - Come From Away.

Imho.
Americans have a habit of "helping" countries in need with military might rather than humanitarian aid. Flexing thier muscles in the presence of other world powers to keep the evil commies in check.
Countries like Iran and Pakistan have no shortage of radicals like Osama that are capable of defending thier faith or cause.
If the USA had a better leader now and then, maybe they wouldn't get involved in wars that they can't finish.

I remember that day vividly.

I spent a lot of time in the air in those days, I was on the 407 heading to the International Convention center for a 9AM meeting. While en route to the airport, I used to watch planes overhead, trying to guess where they were coming from.

It was odd that morning as there were no planes in the sky, normally I'd see 40 of them pass overhead. When I go to the meeting there was some banter about a plane crash in NYC.

An hour later the world stopped doing whatever it was doing.

It doesn't matter who is in charge, the Military Industrial Complex decides when the USA needs to diminish and replenish armaments.

I remember it very vividly. Was in Ryerson pub having a coffee and reading up on some notes with my buddies when we saw the planes hit on the news. Absolute silence.

Classes didn’t finish. And it was the first time in my life I saw a new newspaper be printed and handed out for free in the afternoon at he TTC entrances.

Watched "Gander's Ripple Effect" on yt. Very emotional documentary. Would love to go there and have a coffee at Tim's someday.

Actually Halifax and goose bay both took more flights than gander,
Yes, they mentioned that. The writers of the play had first hand experience with Gander tho.

I was working on a movie set that day. We didn't have any tv's there and only received some news of it over the FM radio. News a couple hours later after the initial report they said it was just a practice emergency test. I recall the tone in the voice of the radio broadcaster being different a bit later that day when they confirmed it was not a test. It's interesting how everyone remembers where they were that day.
