6x10 Trailer- rubber flooring?? Inputs?

I have a question to ask you guys.

I have bought several Enclosure trailers over the years, actually this is my fourth one it is a bit bigger 6x10->
In my previous trailers i did the floor in Epoxy, i was quite happy with the results but i don't like the fact that it scratches from moving the generator, tend and other equipment. This time i would like to do the floor with Rubber. Princess Auto sells them by linear foot, it is only 4ft wide and i don't think i will like the seam showing. Perhaps interlocking tiles?

Does anyone have any suggestions where to buy or what material?

Tnk you

Sal

Whatever you get make sure it doesn't stink. I ripped out my rubber flooring because it smelled so bad that you couldn't be in the trailer and if you left clothing in there it smelled so strong you couldn't wear it.

Really?? I'm assuming it was a soft rubber flooring? Seems a bit weird about the smell..but hey i believe you, tnks for the heads up!

Hey Derrick did you installed those soft tiles in your trailer after the rain at Mosport that saturday..remember??lol
Just kidding;-)

If you want rubber stall mats you can get them in Markham from http://chamberscooke.com/industrial-stall-mats.html My office at home shares a long room in my basement with my squat rack and some shelving. My entire floor (~12x30ft room) is covered with the 5x7 3/4" stall mats. Rubber smell went away rather quickly, I started to use the office daily probably a week after putting them in (not due to smell but due to loving desk in etc) and didn't smell it in rest of house or anything. But they can also provide with lots of different rubber floor coverings that might be better for your trailer. Since you are putting it in a trailer you will want something lighter as the 3/4" thick mats are pretty heavy for just flooring. I forget the $ of the mats.

I have some of the horse stall mats from TSC. They are rolled together and sealed, so the smell is really really strong. I left one outside for a couple of weeks and the other on the garage floor where they both are now. After about a month, the smell has lessened, but not to the point where I'd want to workout or sleep on them yet. Most likely they'll be used to store the bike on over the winter. My original plan was to lay one down in the kitchen as an anti fatigue mat, but the smell is still so strong, that it might never be possible.

They were on sale for about $35 when I bought them.

Take note stall matts are, as mentioned above, heavy. I have over 1000# of them in my horse trailer that I haul out at the end of the hauling season (and haul back IN come spring) and I'm all too familiar with their weight.

But, on the flipside, they are durable as a result... just take note that they could eat up some of your trailers usable capacity.

if you are worried about scratching etc and don't want the rubber smell why not try LineX or rhino lining. The same spray on stuff for pick up truck bed lining.

I'd avoid the rubber, fuel/oil/chemicals can be a problem, and they stink. maybe 1 pc vinyl flooring from the building store? its cheap and can be changed out if damaged, hundreds of colors.

I'm not talking about soft rubber mats, i don't think would be appropriate for a trailer. Linex or vinyl i believe it is a great idea, durable and easy to clean. Today i'll spend some time to look around and get some other ideas...

Depending on the type of vinyl your considering just remember, if there is rain it can become pretty slippery pretty quickly.

Good point, but i don't think it's worse than the Epoxy i had before.

It was a grey roll of diamond plate vynal (I think) from Home Depot. After a season and a winter of storage it was still unbearable. I mopped it several times trying to remove the oils or whatever they used as a mould release thinking it might help but it didn't.

If you're talking about my pit flooring that got covered in oil from the exon oil spill at the top of the pits then no lol. I did have to pressure wash it as best as I could though.

I installed click laminate flooring. It gets scratched but I don't care really and it cost me $140 to do 7x20ft. My trailer doubles as my home while at the track so the floor added with soft yellow led lighting makes you feel like your in your living room. I just need a recliner and beer fridge now.

That look's awesome i remember your trailer at the csbk at mosport weekend. laminate definitely it is another option. I like those LED lights.
Will see..decision.. decision my friend.

If you use the epoxy option, make sure that it is the 2 part epoxy and not the 1 part stuff. The 1 part is really just an acrylic resin (latex paint) with a small amount of epoxy in the kit to improve the abrasion resistance (but really isn't any better than rolling house paint on the trailer floor)

Or find a friend in the industrial side of the business and get an industrial 2 part epoxy.

gravel pits use very long rubber belts on conveyors... you could stop at a pit and see if they have scrap belts to get a piece.. or find the wholesaler in your area that sell belts..
I have used 4' wide belt with a seam up the middle.. and i find it works great... installing it around the wall edges can be tough and requires a strong very sharp knife.. it is about 1/2" or 3/4" .

Ok after so much debating finally yest i have decided to purchase a vinyl Interlocking Multipurpose Flooring, these versatile floor tiles can be used for garage, basements, and the list goes on. Anyway each box cover 13.50sqf - so i bought 5 boxes to cover the area 6x10- they're roughly 1/8 inch think and appear to be very durable and of quality that should last..hopefully.lol They're also slip resistant for safety and very..very easy to install.
Summary - Very happy with the quality product, easy to install, clean look and durable. I would love to show you the pix but Somehow i can't upload pix.

For some reason I could only get the one image to load. Where did you find these and what was the cost?
