5500 km, would be oil be finished? or something worse is happening...

did a gaspe tour, changed oil right before.

did 5500 km total over 7 days.

found a couple of false neutrals near to the end of the trip...just figured oil was breaking down a bit. (motul semi synth)

now the other day, something odd happened which was kinda scary.

3rd gear, WOT got in the higher rev ranges and it felt momentarily someone pulled my clutch in, as the revs sky rocketed and then i pulled the clutch and relaxed a bit. Rode home extra gingerly.

Is this just the oil going bad? clutch slipping? (false neutrals, and the feeling like someone pulled the clutch in while riding hard?)

or am i looking at more serious problemos?

03 z1000, left with 11 000 km and came back with 16 500 km.

thank you

Google "slipping 2nd gear" and start down the checklist. Could be a number of things but it sounds like it's popping out of gear and then going back in.

so in other words, you dont think its the oil...lol

Haha! Well..it could be. If the shift action (drum, forks, detent) is not moving smoothly, you might only be engaging the next gear partially, which could lead it to jump out of gear. Start with the simple stuff..check the linkage is lubricated and moving smoothly..check the detent gear and springs..if you're sure it's in gear fully and it's popping out still, it's likely something internal involving a tear-down. Do you shift without the clutch a lot?

My CBR RR Calls for oil changes every 13,000km. Ya right I don't trust it so normally stick around 5000km mark. I think you may have a mechanical issue or just simply rider error.

I had a similar issue with a bike I owned. Fresh oil solved the problem. For what it costs to do an oil change (assuming you do it yourself) it isn't costly to try this first.

dont be so gentle shifting gears...i get false neutrals when i'm being "gentle" with the bike....screw that noise....nail that sucker into the next gear.

thats my usual riding style...but what scared me when she slipped when whacking the throttle open.

I know the odd new Z1000 has problems with coming with a shattered clutch from the factory ... that doesn't help you, though. Sounds clutch related at least, maybe it didn't like the last oil you used or it's on its way out.

pretty unnerving considering she has only16 000 k on her now though...

baby the bike, no wheelies or clutchless shifts.

and ****, i really hope its not mechanical...time to buy a honda...lol jk jk jk

The cbr125 is notorous for these symptoms, and it's a honda. Be firm in your shifting and try using OEM oil.

Nothing special about oem oils.

Well you're not gonna tear your motor apart right now if it may not be needed. Change your oil. Then go out and see if you can duplicate your
symptons. That brand of oil did NOT cause that to happen. And I doubt your bike has any problems, you rode 5500 kms in 7 days its YOU that
has some problems ;)

I read that in my 2011 600rr manual and after 8,000km said no way this is right, going back to 5,000km oil changes.

me has problems??? lol what do you mean by that...and ya i dont go by the manuals change...every 5k religious. always motul semi, since i started.

never once had a false neutral or a clutch slip with this bike, and now all of a sudden...plus that odd one when i was WOT

but anyways, changey the oily tomorry and well see

I'll bet the "slip" was a greasy tire against hot pavement. Third gear is still a lot of torque to spin the tire.

whahahah, i never even though about that.

totally could have been a grease patch. tires were fully hot for sure though. but felt no tire spin...pretty noticeable
