$499 Joe Rocket Speedmaster 11.0 suit VS. $650 Teknic Xcelerator one piece suit

Hi,

I am thinking of getting a race suit and wanted to see if anyone had any experience with either of these suits. I have been riding for only about 2 years but wanted to get into track racing next season and want to take advantage of some end of season race suits.

There is a special going on for the JR speedmaster 11.0 at Royal Distributing which seems to be an excellent deal for $499. But I also saw online specials on the Teknic Xcelerator on eBay for around $650. I actually saw one my size for $550 a few days ago but gone now. The Xcelerator suit seems to be higher quality than the JR?? its Kangaroo leather and its lighter.

I know best is to try on the suit but not sure any places in Toronto that carries the Xcelerator and definitely not at the online special prices. I know some people do it but I don't feel right going to the store and try them on and then buy online. I am in the service industry and I don't think that is right.

Right now, I am leaning towards the JR at Royal.

go with the jr put the difference in a pair of gloves

The JR at that price is for small size only i believe.

YMMV, but the JR fits my chiseled body better than a Teknic suit.

I have that exact JR suit and paid almost $1000 for it two years ago. No issues with any stitching and the padding is Knox I believe.

Jayv - you are right, they only have a 40 left which is not going to fit.

I was wondering if I should wait until Dec for the Bike show at the Convention centre. I have not been but was told that there are some good deals around, especially for tires?? What about apparel like race suits or gloves. I think I could use a new pair of gloves as well but the key purchase would be a race suit for track days.

Are the deals at the Bike show even better than the clearence at Royal??

Throwing this out there, I took a drive to sportbike track gear near Detroit yesterday, and got a killer deal on my teknic leather jacket, to match my pants, and a sweet pair of cortech race boots. Definitely worth the drive, and brought the wife to the mall also .

they did have prob 10 suits there, all manufacturers, but unfortunately I did not see prices... Check them out online:

Just ordered the Xcelerator suit online through eBay. Actually, Bikebandit has the same suit for US$539!! but need to factor in the shipping charge to Canada so I figure go through eBay might be better with better protection.
