30 year rider, new to the forum... and Harleys!

I've been riding mainly Yamahas for around 30 years, my favorite being my old Virago 1100. But when I decided recently to get back on 2 wheels I fell in love with a 2003 Softail Standard so I jumped into Harley world with both feet!

Now only a Harley owner for a couple of weeks in January I'm learning why the dealership's chrome consultant joked "Buying the bike is only the downpayment!"

I started off by wanting to give the bike a service to make sure I'm getting off on the right foot. Then came the chrome! :-)

Long story short, my bargain $8,000 Softail has just absorbed 50% of it's value in my efforts to make it my own. Heck, I'm not complaining... it's been fun! But certainly eye-opening.

Anyway, thanks for a great forum. A real wealth of local information.

That's too funny. I have a 1100 Virago. Haven't felt like doing much other than opening the pipes a bit.
Oh and ride it. :)
I checked out Harley at the motorcycle show and really liked the Dyna SuperGlude custom 110 Anniversary edition.

Welcome to the forum!

And if my dealer had a "Chrome Consultant" I would avoid them!
(the consultant, not necessarily the dealer...)

Consultant? We don't need no stinkin consultant... Welcome

Hello & Welcome! I have always liked Harley's especially the fat boy...maybe that will have to be added one day!

Cheers!

Thanks all!

If you are in the market for more. I suggest going stateside to get parts. Cheaper. Gilligan works for a dealership in Virginia Beach and can prob hook you up.
