Over the winter I am planning to check the plugs and valves. When I had the headers off I noticed deposit built up on exhaust valves. Does this need to be cleaned out? If so how? Is there anything else I should be inspecting or replacing at this point in regards to the engine? Thanx!

While it's in hibernation I'd give the cam chain a look see, make sure it's nice and tight and the cam chain tensioner isn't wore down.

Here are easy things you can do to tune-up your bike and improve performance. Check engine oil, suspension oil, check or clean carburetor. Clean your bike chain oil if necessary .You can do it yourself if you know it other wise take help from garage. I suggest you to repeat this procedure after every 2000-3000 km. I do it.

That bike doesn't have a carb. The only way you can check suspension oil is by removing the forks

When did the manual call for a valve check?

How do you check the the rear suspension oil?

Well you take the shock out and shake it. You have to listen for the thickness of the oil.
It's best to warm it up in the oven first then shake it for 20 seconds or so.

My bike sends me emails when there is a problem.
