Is this a poll on whether we agree on a casino being placed there?

All we need is more traffic issues in downtown Toronto.

Lol yeah, probably would take the same amount of time driving to Port Perry than to downtown toronto from York Region

I voted no.

I just got a job downtown. My opinion is that downtown Toronto is already at capacity, no room to fit anything else here. There's no parking, no way to get in or out, not even room to walk sometimes.

Put it up in the boonies, for once make people drive in the opposite direction.

Great, time to move out.. City already looks like **** with all the poorly designed condos. Dumb city planners.

They are still building more condos.
And we still have a transit system built for the 80's.

Meh. I think casinos are tacky, but I realize the decision isn't based on my personal tastes.

I don't think the casino will be too big of a draw for out-of-towners (who wants to drive downtown and then pay $20+ to park), but it may be fun for those already partying/visiting the city.

I don't have the stats handy, but I remember hearing on talk radio that casinos don't actually bring much in terms of value to the cities that build them.

It's too bad we can't funnel this kind of private money into actually building transit.

I think that's the point. They want to get a lot of money of the drunks and bay street ********** at night time. I'm up for it. If anything it's private money and it does bring in jobs + income.

I say go for it. It will create jobs and some cash for the city.

That's the promise, jobs and cash for the city.

The jobs will suck, most people will work as parking lot attendants, security guards, waitresses, restaurant staff... not great jobs. At what cost?

Where is the real money going to go?

Exactly, the casino can still be built in the City, but just shouldn't be built in the downtown core. Front street is already one lane at times because of construction. It takes me up to 30 mins sometimes to get from front street to the qew which is just stupid. Anyone ever tried to commute down there when they have a hockey game, or concert, basketball game going on? its gridlock. Put it up in downsview and make it available by ttc. Or better yet expand woodbine. It has the parking capacity and still accessible by highway and ttc.

Casinos don't create wealth.

I go to casinos cause they are fun, but I don't try to pretend they are good for society.

Sadly, casinos draw tourism. Which pumps millions of dollars into the local economy in collateral spending. If Toronto is going to become a world class tourism draw, a casino is * one * more thing that adds to the allure. And eventually the city will become so congested that the feds will have to spend on transit. The city and province have proved incapable.

I'm so effing glad I don't live in the city anymore...this is a good idea but an awful one at the same time.

Another reason to stay the **** outta the downtown lol

Reading some of the comments on the star's website leaves me puzzled, is this how dumb and dependent on the government have we really become?

"Mandatory posting the gambling odds for Casino over gamblers on each gambling table and slot machines. Many gamblers don't know how good the winning edges Casino has over the gamblers. It is like that a kid (gambler) wrestles with an adult (casino). The kid never wins. Gambling is never a fair business. If the nutrition labels on food package can be regulated, why does the government fail to regulate the casino by mandatory posting the gambling odds on each gambling table and slot machines ?"

LOL....you actually believe that? Casino's as like Wall/Bay street destroy jobs and lives.

10000% agreed. When a government uses Casino's to rake in cash. That's means they are desperate.
