2013 Kawasaki ZX6R Oil Change Interval Question

Hey everyone. I just did the first oil change at 1000km like the manual indicated. Went with Motul 5100 and K&N Filter, next fill will be Motul 7100. According to the manual the next oil/filter change is at 12,000KM then 24,000KM etc. Now that really seems like a long interval to me. I am coming from Motocross racing, where oil change intervals were very short. Granted I am not doing track days or hitting redline on my Kawasaki. What do you guys recommend.
 
Go with what the manual says
Nothing wrong with that.

I do a bit more frequent at every 5000 km
