One woman dead following motorcycle crash

One woman is dead following an afternoon motorcycle crash in Brock Township, Durham police have confirmed.

According to police, the female motorcyclist collided with a pickup truck at Lakeridge Road and Regional Road 13 just after 2:30 p.m.

No information on the victim or any possible charges has been provided by police.

Durham Police have released new details regarding the victim in Thursday’s fatal motorcycle crash on Lakeridge Road and
Regional Road 13. Officials say a 68 year old Toronto woman, lost control of her bike and collided with a pick-up truck
around 3:30 p.m. The name of the victim, who Police say was a novice rider, is not being released.

She was the neighbour of my co-worker. He said she always wanted a motorcycle but waited until her mother had passed because she didn't want to worry her mother. Finally when the appropriate time came, she went out and got her licence.

So very tragic....
 
RIP rider.

This story hits a little close to home. My own father is talking of getting into riding, seeing how much I enjoy it. But he's 70 and I keep trying to talk him out of it.

RIP! She was at age 68. Also on Fathers Day, Richard (above), age 68.RIP also. I have 5 years to go. It goes to show riders MUST keep their wits about them at all times. Be alert and expect the unexpected. Never push the bubble, especially as your age advances. No charges usually means the deceast rider was at fault. What a waste!! Over and over again it happens.

There was a quick/heavy rain storm that went throught that area at that time. Might have contributed.
