Anyone no the exact route the parade will be going this year? Lakehead University is the starting point. Will it go on old barrie rd, southwood 13?

Not sure of the route. Ride for Sight does not post the route details to try and prevent other riders from joining to parade mid-run. The parade should last about 1.5 hrs and take some nice scenic roads back to Tudhope park. Should be a nice one! Make sure to get to the kick-off point early enough to get your pancakes!

Sounds like it's going to much better than last years route.

Can I sign up for the secret parade route $ 75 at 8 am befor the ride starts?

Yep, registration will be at Lakehead for those that aren't already registered.

No pancakes this year. There will be light breakfast and coffee.
We will be going West from Lakehead. It is a beautiful route with Police escort this year.

Ok thanks for the information I will be attending with some other budies weather permitting. How many bikes in the parade? 1000? 2000?

Lots of good riding options, especially if they take the route more north than south. Old Barrie Road is good, but you can do it on the way up and home. Big Chute is a nice ride, but boring to get to. Up around Lake Muskoka and Lake Rousseau there are some really good roads with sweepers. I like Route 13, but only if the road is not sand covered. There is also a great road from Bracebridge down to Gravenhurst. I've been courious about where the route will run, hopefully somebody posts details.

Anything has to be better than last year's disaster!

What was last years route like?

What was last years route like?

Last year was one of those parades we've blocked from our mind. We weren't able to get the police coverage that we wanted, therefore there were a lot of unmanned intersections. The parade to split up very early on.

We made it to the park.... all in one piece, but it was definately a bit scary going through the heart of Barrie with no police support at the major intersections. The GTAM team stayed together very well. Hats off to all of them from last year!

Are they expecting riders to have a full take of gas? where is the nearest gas station to the university? a 90 min ride cant be any more then 100 km's.

The ride is over 100kms.
You should always have a full tank of gas.
There are lots of gas stations in the area to fill up at.
Orillia is a big town with everything you will need to get through the weekend.

The parade motto has always been "Tanks full, bladders empty!" Should really be the motto for the start of every ride.

I'm sure there are some gas stations near by. As long as you find one within 20-50 km from the starting point, you shouldn't have anyone running out of fuel.
