Anyone know a dealer that might have one in stock? Any info on this bike would be great come to think of it

parker bros bleeds orange, but i am not sure if they are dealer's anymore, or at least selling new bikes.

Parker Bros isn't a dealer anymore, just a parts source. Your best bet is GP bikes in Whitby. Or APEX cycle in Waterloo. Both are big KTM dealers, I believe GP will be the cheaper choice as in you will save maybe 100-200$ more off the overall purchase of a bike brand new vs APEX. I find APEX to have more friendly attentive staff and the old fashion dealership feel to it as well as better lighting and no 2nd floor. I've literally spent over an hour on the 2nd floor of GP bikes trying clothing on near all the KTM's and no one had any idea I was there.

is this even available in Canada? i was interested in this model as well and it doesn't seem to be in Canada

I was thinking getting a sxv but when I seen the 690 r I was hooked? What you moto guys think. This is all new since it will be my first supermoto

well for us guys/gals that want a "new" supermoto the only company that seems to sell them is Suzuki with the DRZ400sm

I was like youm about 3 years ago ... until I was lead to believe that KTM is so special and good that I'd have to pay a full MSRP pop of around 11.5K + tax and even that would not guarantee me getting one anytime soon. Ridiculous ....

But you have it easier ... LOL. KTM 690 is not imported anymore (KTM's presence as far as street legal bikes in Canada is lethargic at best), like the Duke. I have no clue why they don't care more. SXV is a power beast, but not really street friendly. The power certainly is, but the maintenance is not. You have to look after it frequently, otherwise ... kaboom (get a coffee and google ...). There's a street legal Husky, but with zero Ontario presence I don't think you want to go that route.

So as someone else has said, DRZ seems to be the only viable street legal option, if you want new these days. Sad, but what are you gonna do? It's an inexpensive fun and if you like mod your bikes, there's not a bike with bigger possibilities and aftermarket parts.

I called gp bikes today the guy on the phone said he sold a ton this year. Ktm only made the 690 SMS r this year he called it the enduro spec. But I want the supermoto version

What do you guys think about getting a ktm 690 enduro and putting supermoto wheels on it? Was thinking getting a 2010

I'm fairly certain the SMC is no longer available in Canada. There are a couple on Kijiji. Get the Enduro R and get a set of sumo wheels for it. I'd be willing to entertain a strait swap for your enduro set-up for my SMC set-up if you must have an SMC ;)

Buy my 2008 (best and most reliable year) 690 enduro and get smr parts for it (wheels, suspension if you want since the 2008 isn't as "tall" as later years) - mine even looks like an SMr with all black bodywork. If you're interested, email me directly at alongat.gat@gmail.com - sorry for the shameless plug - I haven't listed my bike yet though I'm quite motivated to move it as I've found my next ADV bike...

By the way, you'd be shocked at how quick the 690 is - I can imagine how much faster it would be with a set of 17" wheels/tires.

I might be wrong, this might only apply to the 625 generation, but the brake system is quite different between the smc and the adventure/enduro models.

My understanding is that the current generation of SMC vs. Enduro, the 690 are the same except for wheels and certain body pieces (front fender is smaller on the SM model, etc.). I believe that for model 2008 and up, the suspension is actually the same as well (and the brakes). What is different in that engine category for KTM is the Duke and Duke R. So...for anyone interested in a near-70hp, 310 pound Enduro / Motard, have a look at my ad and just add 17" wheels... Identical apart from the wheels I know that onmy bike, you can set the dash from enduro to supermoto wheels so you don't even need to worry about speedo calibration given the difference in diameter.

Not exactly, the most important part is the brakes which are radial mounted on the SMC and 320mm plus might also have a bigger master. Also a good set of wheels and rubber will set you back $1500 easy. Its best to buy a SMC instead of trying to make a enduro into a SMC,it will get expensive trust me
