2012 Kawasaki 250r turn signal no longer working

Bought the bike used though not much since it only had 707km when I got it; sadly low sided it on my first week got some minor fairing cracks that aren't visible if you don't know where they are, a hole in the fairing which is a bit more visible, a bent shift lever and my left hand turn signals are a bit loose. Also learned a valuable lesson. :lmao:

Mechanic fixed the shift lever and used electrical tape to "fix" the lights, I had only asked them to fix the lever and make sure I hand not broken anything else major so no biggie there.

Got it back on the 17th and have been riding it to work and back fine since.

Anyway just wanted to give a history in case it helps figure out the why.

Yesterday I decided to go for a longer ride, rode down from Jane and Steeles to Queen then Yonge, then Finch and back home. Up until after I turned onto Finch my turn signals worked fine, then when it was time to turn from finch into my street I found the signals no longer worked, the indicator does not turn on and neither do the lights.

After I got home I checked the other lights and they are fine, highbeam/lowbeam, neutral light, oil light, break light, they all work except the signal lights.

Any clue as to the cause?

Also, considering what happened would fixing this be covered under the warranty? If it is, how do I check if my warranty is still valid?

I know the GPBikes on is till end of June but it's only for power train. They did say they believe the Kawasaki one is valid until mid July, but weren't certain.

Lastly if it is under warranty and this counts, where would I bring it to be serviced? Or is this something that I can easily fix myself? I'm not very mechanically inclined.

It would be easier to diagnose seeing the bike, but my internet diagnosis is the wiring attached to the signal you tore off is messed up. It may have shorted and blown a fuse. I would be very surprised if this was a warranty issue.

Warranty covers manufacturing defects, not crash damage and hack-job repairs. Check your fuses, check your wiring

So I started with the fuse and that got it working for a little bit but then it blew again; I did notice though that the left turn signal would turn on and stay solid. Then looking at the lights I saw the back one was not turning on at all.

So I took the left fairing off and checked both lights to make sure everything was fine there, I also re-secured the lights properly so they don't wobble and pop off anymore, which is what the mechanics had used the electrical tape for.

Turns out the back light cable was so tight that when I low sided the bike and the back light popped off it loosened the pins and I guess one of the bumps I hit going down finch finished the job.

I also found that my relay had popper out of its casing and was sometimes touching metal.

So i put the relay back in its place and fished the light cable through to give it more slack, I found the cables back there were really really wedged in tightly and hard to pull/push through. I Plugged the pins back in and everything works fine now.

That being said I ordered.

- Proton LED Flush Mounts http://hightechspeed.com/products/ProtonLights/index.asp
- Sequential LED Tail Lights http://www.motodynamic.com/product_info.php?cPath=12_13&products_id=227
- A Electronic Relay and a diode kit.

and will be changing to those soon.
