So i have another question about my gsxr, ive researched it and ppl say it normal but id like someone who owns/owned the same bike to listen and maybe ride it to tell me its ok lol
2011 gsxr600 (7600km) there are no issues with the bike that i am aware of. The only thing that concerns me is the noise it makes at idle , its like 'ticking' noise, and the way the bike feels under 5000rpm , It doesnt matter cold or warm when the bike idles there seems to be a ticking noise. Also when i ride under 5000rpm the bike feels laggy, i dont know how to explain it and thats why i ask maybe someone who knows their gixxers to meet up for a ride so maybe they can tell me if its normal. Other than that the bike is awsome, starts good, and is very smooth , and feels amazing above 6000rpm :)
Ive read on it on other forums and other ppl say that its normal for gsxr to have that ticking noise.

Both my last one (2012) and my new one (2013) make the ticking noise you're talking about. It's very faint but I can hear it. I had the new one checked and was told it's okay. :dontknow:

As for below 5 grand I would think that's normal. They like to make their power higher up in the rpm range. I like that it's a dog below that. Easy to keep quiet and just putt along.

I've owned 5 GSXR's since 2006 and all sound like you're describing. Every inline-4 600cc SS is gutless below 6k. I can take a look in you're ever in the Bowmanville area but it doesn't sound like you have anything to be concerned about. Is the bike stock?

You need to check your valves and cam chain

It's just some slack in the cam chain that you get with the auto tensioner, no need to get crazy.

OP, if it bothers you that much you can change to a manual CCT and it will stop 90% of the noise, the rest is just the way the engine sounds.

Mine did the same.. but I was @ 35k mileage at the time and it needed the cam chain redone. Valves were fine.

its a bomb shaped like a motorcycle!

Its a gixxer, its normal.

If you dont want the rattles, pieces falling out of place and other annoying features go buy a honda :lmao:

Yes the bike is stock , just has a yosh r77d slip on ( which doesnt really make much more sound than stock i think its cuz of the cat tho)

LoL my brother had 2 cbr600rr 2004 and 2009, Ur right they dont make any noise, or i just dont hear it cuz of the yosh he had on both of them. Ive ridden both of them and even tho 2009 was a lot more comfortable than 2003 , it doesnt even come close to the gsxr. Way more comfy ride, at least for me

So anyone in central mississauga or etobicoke or brampton that would like to meet up for a ride and check it out ?

If you're seriously that concerned, take it to a professional. You have 6 guys here who have said its normal and you still don't believe them. Not trying to be a dick, but if you're uncomfortable taking previous owners experiences, the only thing to do is take it in...

I brought it in for the master cylinder recall and i mentioned it to them, the guy said its normal. I guess i just have to hear another one that sounds the same, none of the ppl i ride with ride a gixxer thats why im asking all these questions. But other than that i love the bike and how smooth it is when shifting :)
