Changed the oil and filter, noticed about 3mL or so on the driveway after I parked today. It would appear the oil is coming from one of the bolts (which I tightened) and the oil filter cover.

I have a torque wrench however its rated for slightly higher torque, is not as accurate at low torque.

I did however notice one thing and that was the O-ring replacement that came with the KN-401 filter is fatter than the one that was in before which I can assume was the OEM version. It fits in the groove fine though but it seems like there's more of a gap.

It did not leak for a good week (I think), it also doesn't appear to leak when the bike is cold, only during a ride.

Anyone have any experience with these filters or my problem?

Take the cap off and check the O-ring.

The reason it only happen whenthe bike is hot is because when the bike is cold the oil is thicker. As it heats up it becomes thinner and can slide its way through any small crack in a gasket.

If the O-ring is fine, make sure you didn't overtighten the nuts and crack the screws.

I tightened up the the screws a bit, it did not require any effort and when I came across some real resistance I stopped. O-ring looked fine....

So far it seems ok, I need to go for a bit of a longer ride however to see if it leaks again.

I was also just thinking of taking the bike to a mechanic to have a look at the general condition of the bike, now I have to find a mechanic, any suggestions?

There are two o-rings that come with the filter. One goes on the bolt stem , the other on the grove on the outer ring. Make sure when you put it all back together you feel a snap which ensures the ring is as far down on the bolt stem as possible. Do a search on you tube, there a some good examples there. If you think there is an issue with the k-n o ring. I would just reuse the oem one if it's still good.
