I am looking to sell my 2008 KTM 690 Enduro, located in Toronto with roughly 23,000 km on it. This bike has no horror stories, accidents, etc - it's an honest 690 Enduro with all the right service, farkles and advrider.com forum recommendations to add reliability and performance.
The list of farkles (and their cost new) / service is as follows: (I'm sure I'm missing one or two details...)
Farkles:
1- Decannisterectomy - charcoal cannister removed - much improved throttle response, less weight, etc.
2- Uni-filter air filter - lifetime, clean and re-oil $110 - why keep buying paper based filters? Wash and reinstall...
3- CA Cycleworks fuel pump and Napa fuel filter $139 - the fuel pump is a known issue - this replacement exceeds the reliability of the standard KTM unit and is a direct bolt-in. The filter eliminates the need to purchase $45 KTM fuel filters
4- Fuel line mod and protection $42 - KTM ran the main fuel line against the frame bolts - the line can rupture once worn through. I pre-empted disaster with a proper replacement and rubber protection
5- Three position KTM handlebar mounted map switch $215 - switches maps for throttle sensitivity and to retard ignition in the case of low octane fuel, etc...
6- Rox dampened handlebar risers $165 - raises bars for taller riders, dampens with rubber isolation for comfort
7- Powerlet outlet (switched) $55 - Waterproof and easily accessible - also run on switched ignition so you don't run the battery down
8- Heated grips $85 - we live in Canada - need I say more?
9- KTM Powerparts windscreen $60 - small but highly effective on highways and I'm 6'3" - yes, it works
10- Custom matte black, white and orange body vinyl $240 - pictures don't do this justice - must be seen to appreciate
11- Renthal tapered handlebars $100 - previous owner mod, no idea why but they're on it
12- White KTM fork protectors $65 - I like the white and black look with some orange
13- Renazco Racing suede seat $355 - a godsend for anything other than city or tricky trail work - your *** will thank you dearly as mine has for countless KMs...
14- KTM Powerparts rear bag with quick-disconnect mount $190 - a very handy, expandable tail bag solution that snaps on and off with the "horseshoe" mount - comes with a rain cover
15- Touratech full stainless steel pannier mount set and rear luggage plate $350 plus $84 - yes, stainless steel - what a novel idea and why can't others offer stainless on their bars? Makes so much sense to me...
16- Touratech full stainless steel engine and radiator guard set $146 plus $146 - a replacement radiator costs $530 from KTM, why not protect it? Engine cases are protected by these as well...
17- Upgraded fuel tank mounts $85 - these bikes use the fuel tank as the rear subframe and bolt them in with substandard hardware - this tank does not move a single millimetre unlike most of the ones out there
18- Additional standard 12v cigarette lighter port $10 - neatly tucked under the seat for easy access to standard plug power
19- Three front fenders - 2 KTM orange and one Polisport black $110 - short, long and wide for mud-riding and a black one for days when you want to feel like Darth Vader
20- Kolpin One Gallon fuel cell with quick-release mounted on right pannier $80 - You never know and it doesn't move or shake where I've got it mounted - never leaked a drop
21- Happy Trails Aluminum pannier set $400 - basic, black with good hardware and top tie-down provision - what more does anyone really need? They swallow all my camping gear and go on and off in seconds
22- Kriega tank bag mount and Kriega US10 included $155 - waterproof (really), durable and doesn't crush your nuts when you slide forward
23- Garmin GPS and ram mount kit $270 - Garmin 255WT GPS mounted on RAM plate and mounts - I love where I have it mounted, feel free to change locations if required
24- ammo box for tools $20 - yes, it holds a ton of tools and yes, it has a rubber gasket - never got in the way where it's mounted but can be very easily removed
25- Cycra Pro-Bend hand protectors/bush guards $130 - I don't trust my hands and wrists with basic plastic guards 0 these are the real deal and they do a great job keeping cold wind off your hands
26- Touratech front sprocket cover/guard $80 - have you seen the stock, cheap plastic sprocket cover these come with?
27- Acerbis vented fuel filler neck/cap with KTM vent $85 - A highly recommended mod on every 690 thread I've ever seen
28 - Aprilia RXV/SXV mirrors - strong as you'll ever need, no shake, look better - I had these on previous bikes and have yet to find their equal in terms of location, strength and usability - not cheap but worth every penny $64 for the pair
29- Radiator plastic guard mod (to avoid ruining the radiator tanks) and radiator fan rubber isolation (to avoid ruining the radiator core by vibrating and wearing away the fins, etc.)
Recent service:
1- Fuel injection service including new injector filter and cleaning - yes, the actual injector has a tiny screen filter in it and despite that, I have had the injector pressure cleaned - yes, it did make a huge difference in idling and power
2- Latest ECU maps from KTM dealer - no stalling, no lock-up, no funky wandering idling issues.
3- New Yuasa battery - it came time for a new one - simple dealer replacement battery
4- TPS and THAD adjustments performed and perfectly set - again, no stalling, no hunting/wandering idle anymore - perfect throttle cable tension and starts instantly
5- Oil and filter change at last service (same time as battery)
6- Coolant flush, clean, etc at last service - you would be surprised how many people neglect this vital engine system
7- Suspension set for 225 pound rider plus gear - previous owner - no idea specifically what was done but it works very well for me, with and without gear and I'm 220 pounds.

Price? $6900 for everything plus all the stock / extra parts I have
The Good? Everything mentioned above plus this bike is amazingly nimble - at 310 pounds soaking wet, it is highly manoeuvrable, fuel efficient (I get over 250km on 13 litres in mixed riding) and I have no problem keeping with my friends who ride 950s/1200s on the highways - I run 135-140kph loaded with no issues at all yet when I am in the city or tight turns, I can walk away from them and their heavier, sluggishly geared bikes.
The Bad? It needs a new rear left turn signal if you want to picky - KTM designed the turn indicator mounts too low and as a result, the heat of the exhaust tends to melt the bottom portion of the turn indicator. Mine works flawlessly and I figured that once I replace it, I would fashion mounts to raise them so it is not in the direct path of the exhaust - can be done for the prospective buyer if you want.
Location? Toronto (yes, in the city - I have to ride one to two hours just to find decent roads/trails)
Please contact me at alongat.gat@gmail.com - alternatively, feel free to call me at 416.930.7405 to discuss it.
Thanks everyone.
