Hi All,

I bought a 2007 EX50 for $3700. It's a pretty good deal considering 250s are priced similarly. It's in great condition and comes with some mods. I have to admit that the Hindle system is
extremely loud for my taste, and even got my neighbors coming out from their home. I think I might just swap the stock back on :/

I will be getting my insurance sand safety in Spring and will look for gear in the off season. I'll just register ownership for now. I'm reading the manual for now as I have no idea about the bike haha. Hope to ride with some of you soon!

Ah, my first bike was also an '07 EX500, same colour and everything. I left mine completely stock though.

EDIT: I sometimes wonder what happened to that bike. I think it ended up destroyed.

How many kms? I also did the same for the gixxer bought now insure later. Just make sure you lock it up or your garage is secure.
 
I plan to keep the bike for a while. I like the oldschool styling, colour, and 500 is good enough for me.

It has 14800km on it.

Because there were only a few on the island (i.e., Newfoundland) and the other two have shown up on the EX forum bought by new riders. Mine never made a reappearance. The guy I sold mine to was a squid. I just... have a feeling it ended up wrecked.
 
That's a nice bike. 500s are a great size, too. I'd say enjoy, but I suspect you're going to spend a lot of sad moments in the garage with a bike you can't ride. :agave:

It's true, it is quite sad to see it just sit in the garage. That's why I have been riding it just around my residential block lol. I still need to get use to the bike. I'll be trying to getting smoother and practice turning the corners for awhile.

The one thing I notice is the lack of fuel gauge, just a fuel light. I guess people just look in their gas tank? lol or count miles?
 
Most older design bikes have no fuel gauge. I have a flashing light when the level gets low and then solid light when it's almost dry.
On an EX500 you should be getting over 300 km per tank. Best way to find out is to bring a small canister with you or a friend with a car and just ride it out from the time you get the warning light. That way, you'll know exactly what kind of distance you can cover.

Including the dreaded, "what oil should I use?" "what grade of fuel should I put in my bike?" and "how big of a back tire can I put on this bike?" questions. ;)

Cheers and nice bike (Hmm.....your post looks familiar. I think I've seen it somewhere else before.)

No fuel light either. You're probably looking at the oil pressure light. Just use the trip meters as a guide. I use the one on the left to keep track of the km since filling up and use the one on the right side to keep track of my chain maintenance. E.g. at 500km I lube and at 1000km I clean and lube. Then I reset the trip meter and start again.

Squidge is the exact reason why I haven't been on that forum for a while. Besides, it's been kind of boring there in general lately. Next Spring will bring back the excitement with the next flotilla of no0bs asking questions about (unnecessary) jetting, extended swingarms, and R6 tail conversions. :lmao:
