1st Bike

Thank you. I’m taking her for my first spin tomorrow.
Ok, you're a new rider, a couple things to think about. The roads are cold and slippery, also lots of crap on the road, salt and brine and your tires are cold. Cars are not used to seeing bikes out there right now. I don't want to discourage you, I know you want to get out, but maybe just a short ride in an area you are familiar with.

Not staying out there for sure. Just wanted a feel for it. I’m scared!

Lots of bikes out today, including myself...roads in Halton (Milton, Campbellville, Burlington and Oakville) weren't too bad...take it easy, definitely stay in your area...do you have your M2 and did you take a course?...if not, definitely take one, best money you'll ever spend...Milton is calling for a high of 13 and sunny tomorrow afternoon, so it should be a nice day...try to avoid high traffic times like lunch and rush hour...

Yup, a lot of bikes in my area too today. Niagara Falls.

Awesome! Congrats...

And stay out of the centre of the lane at a busy intersection. Its often loaded up with oil drippings.
What a sweet starter bike. I'm on the other end of the bell curve, 57 years riding and still having fun on a CB300F but I started on similar ride to yours in the 60s. Honda 305 Superhawk. Came off lots but then rode all winter and off pavement. They built them tough.

You got all the tech development since to enjoy. (y)

If you haven't insured yet - Chris is a rider and has treated me well over the years.

Thanks Mac. I was looking at the Honda CB300R but they recommended me either the Z400 or the CB500F.

The Z400 will handle highway better.
The CB500X would have been be a better choice than the 300r or 500F. Upright seating and a decent solo tourer. Took mine across Canada in 2019.

I know the sport bike look is cool but upright ADV is safer and better for distance. You'll be fine with the Z tho. Wear your earplugs and have fun.
