Hi All,
Need some help. I bought a 1984 KZ750L4 with a clapped out motor. I bought and installed a 1983 KZ750L3 motor which was missing the ignition rotor and pick up plate, but did have the auto advance for the ignition. The two ignition systems between the two motors are different so a straight swap wasn't going to happen (although I tried). I purchased a Dynatek system but am having a hell of a time getting it to start. I'm getting spark and gas/air but the engine refuses to start. I don't even get smoke of back firing. I am running power from the 12v wire feeding the tail light, and I have the pick ups connected to the negative of each respective coil. I statically timed it by lining up the "F" mark on the advancer to the engine case mark and while holding the ignition rotor fully clockwise, I turned the ignition pickup plate clockwise until the exposed cylinder 4 spark plug sparked. then I tightened the plate down.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
