Too many projects on the go, so it pains me to sell my 1980 Honda CB650 Custom rat/brat/bobber (whatever you wanna call it) - It started life as a stock '80 CB650 Custom, but I stripped it all down to the last bolt. I had the frame, tank, swing arm, headlight, 10" ape hanger bars, etc sandblasted down to bare steel, then clear powdercoated (or painted, in the case of the tank and headlight housing). So everything looks like bare metal, but is protected from rust and corrosion. I also chopped the rear section of the frame that would normally support a passenger seat, and welded in a solo seat bracket.
Since getting the bike, I have:
- header-wrapped the exhaust
- replaced the front brake caliper and rebuilt it with new lube, gaskets & pads
- replaced both tires
- changed the oil, brake fluid, spark plugs
- installed mini bullet-style signals, new brake light (and will also include a side-mount brake like/plate holder so you can choose which to run)
- had the carbs rebuilt and jetted to support small cone air filters
- performed a compression and leak-down (which came back as good as new)
- installed new chain
- installed a forward control kit
...I'm sure there's more that I've forgotten by now. I had the bike running last summer, but haven't really worked on it this summer.
As for what it needs (and there's not much)...the carbs just have to be fine-tuned, and the electrical (signals and brake light) need to be finished off. The wiring harness is complete, and pretty well everything is labelled, but I just don't have the time to finish it off. If I did, I'd be riding it instead of selling it!
If you want a REALLY cool bike that will turn some heads without breaking the bank, this is it. Asking $2500 obo
Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for looking.
