1970 Red 750 Norton Commando

Hi, I'm selling this iconic fully restored vintage cafe racer. Unfortunately, health reasons are preventing me from being able to ride the bike (I rode it less than 200 miles in 2 years). Instead of keeping it stored for another decade, I'd like to see another enthusiast enjoy the fruit of my labour and passion

I purchased the Commando from its original owner (secretary of the Ontario Norton Owners Association "ONO") in 2013. He had just finished putting it back together after years taken apart and stored indoor (full story published in the ONO "Nomad" newsletter). The owner had installed a Boyer ignition, new exhaust pipes (there are good exhaust port threads), hardened type clutch center, re-sleeved carbs by Bruce Chessel and new fork seals and fluids. It was in decent shape, but needed more work.

Since then, I have been restoring it with the intent to use it as a daily driver and included a number of safety and reliability improvements.

Rick Harrett from Highway Cycle (recognized by the Norton Owner's Club for his lifetime contribution to Norton mortocycles) did the mechanical work listed below (all invoices will be included for reference). Rick fully safety certified the bike on 4/26/2014.

The engine was taken apart and rebuilt (the crank was reground and rebalanced), new valves, new guide seals, new gaskets, new push rods were installed. Rick installed new gas lines, cables, tires, tubes, and wire-harness. The front brake was upgraded (Hydraulic front, not stock in 1970 but much safer), Rick also added an oil filter kit (not original in 1970).

On the cosmetic side, I added top of the line Tommaselli Condor adjustable clip-ons to finish its café look. I also have a straight bar that will be included in the sale alongside a complete Norton Tool Kit, Cluth-puller, Exhaust wrench and all other Norton parts & accessories I have.

Serious inquiries only, no test ride, tire kickers, etc… I am not desperate to sell, I would like to see it go to a good home and an owner who will respect and enjoy this classic.
