18 Things You Can Do on a Cruiser but no on a Sportbike

Most of it is the same thing over and over again. You can ride further in comfort on a cruiser. By the examples given an Adventure bike is better then a cruiser. Great for long distance, can pack way more then a cruiser, better on sand and gravel, better both in town and out. I love the great distance of 400km in a day... wow! Not even a full tank of gas. I also like how cruisers are better handling because when you are tired it is easier to ride. A pretty ridiculous list, both styles have their pros and cons and are designed for very different things.

That was brutal, I want my 5 minutes back

Slow reader?

But yes, I agree with you, brutal article. Just 2 weekends ago, I rode 1/2 hr on a sandy road; I've crossed a little creek; Better handling on a cruiser -- really??? Almost 1000km days on my CBR 1000RR . Very close minded, and I doubt the author has ridden a sportbike at all.

That is one of the dumbest blogs I've read in a long time. With quotes like these I just shake my head:

" You will still get more power than any other sportbike on earth"

"Cruisers are perfectly designed as off-road vehicles"

"
Riding such a distance on a sportbike in a single day is close to a nightmare; your body will definitely come apart if you attempt such a thing. "

"Take your cruiser wherever you want. Its powerful engine provides enough power to push even through mud and water. Sportbikes are not dirt bikes! So accumulation of mud and water in their engine can completely mess it up and leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. With a cruiser, you can be rest assured that you can push through slushy mud and water if the situation demands so. "

"The ability to drive your cruiser on the beach is another factor that keeps it well ahead of sportbikes."

"Sportbikes are meant for city roads and race tracks, so taking them out of the city on long rides is useless."

It looks like some of the old fashioned believers in the sportbike/cruiser binary are still around.

Also, I feel like learning that cruisers "have a majestic feel" is a dark insight into the psyche of cruiser owners that will make it hard for me to feel comfortable standing next to them in the future

Gotta love the folks that form an opinion that works for them, it must apply to everyone.

I'm sure the author love their cruiser and probably sat on a sport bike and determined they should only be used at the track.

The only thing sport bikes aren't very fun doing is.....cruising. Lol.

hahaha...... My ZX-14 derived Concours 1400 laughs in the face of this drivel. OK, so my bike is not a sports bike but a sport tourer..... but this article isn't really about cruisers as it is about touring bikes and full dressers.

Most cruisers make what......up to 80 HP? With around the same peak torque? LOL I ride with a lot of cruiser people that think their bikes are powerful.

Luggage? Cargo Capacity? I have two wicked and removable hardbags that can hold a full face each. Plus a 55 litre top case when I need it.

I also have highway pegs and can stretch out any time I want.

Steering a cruiser is easier? LOL but to each his own.

In summary..... LOL hahahahahaha ROTFLMAO

So many people just don't get tongue-in-cheek humour...

Good attempt at humour, but could have had way better jokes than what is shown.

If the article was supposed to be intentionally funny then it would be the humour equivalent of "spicy" Old El Paso

Wow, it's seriously easy to provoke you guys. I guess getting your nuts squashed every time you brake hard takes the humour out of life. Personally, I enjoy feeling majestic on my cruiser, surging along the open road. The glinting chrome attracts the chicks, who dig that deept v-twin rhythm. Nobody likes that 4 cylinder whine, it's just a turnoff. Put those engines where they belong--in econobox commuters. As for the gear, stop the hate. Leather, denim and rivets never go out of style, on the street or in the club, for people comfortable in their own skin. The same sure can't be said for that garish collection of "sporty" plastic snowsuits with hockey pads and reflective stripes. Ugh. What are you so afraid of? Getting hurt? Then stop riding!

Just kidding! Except about the hate. Not cool to make fun of people for their appearance. Also, the idea of a power cruiser (without jerk-pipes) has suddenly become very appealing. Hmmm, a Super Magna maybe. With a harness to make Cafe Ray feel uncomfortable.

This web site seems about 90% sport bike, so don't be surprised by the negative reaction. There's a lot of truth to the blog, but some of it is way misinformed. A sport bike is in no way a touring bike, was never designed as such, and should never be seriously used for it unless you love bloodclots in your legs. But that's okay, because they really were designed for thrill seekers who like to bomb country roads in the summertime and make the occasional weekend trip to the track. The hardy "never say die" types will use them for long trips no matter how much their shoulders ache, their spines bend, or their leg circulation is cut off and swear up and down their bike is perfect for touring. High revving horsepower is that much of an opiate. The smarter ones own both types of bikes.

Sport bikes and Adventure touring bikes are the way to go. I've ridden quite a few cruisers and I've found that HD sucks.... The only cruiser I've liked is a naked Goldwing, known as the Valkyrie (2014 model). It's more Goldwing, rather than cruiser. It kills any HD, any day.

The guy who wrote this article is a misinformed knob..
