April 11-23 only, so get off your... couch.

$5 more than last year. I guess it paid for me to procrastinate.

Thanks!

<quietly plans to go up to the transfer station and pickup 10 or 20 batteries from the pile>

Wonder what would happen if you scale out heavier than you scaled in at a transfer station lol.

Haha, I have grabbed some buckets with water in them before. Try to scale out at minimum price. Dump the water after weighing and they paid you to take the buckets.

It's possible I've, uh, scooped things at a transfer station before. The electronics recycling bin is a treasure trove of stuff thrown out by people who apparently just couldn't be bothered to try to sell it, or didn't realize it's value. I scooped 2 virtually brand new Chromebooks a few years back that had clearly been given to kids (based on the stickers on them) and received the warm "Dad, Chromebooks suck!" welcome...and off they went to the recycling bin at the transfer station apparently. I brought them home, reset them, and sold them for $100 each.

A few months ago I picked up one of the Bosch powerboss construction site radios from the bin. Brought it home, found it even had a basically new looking (and performing) 18v Bosch lithium ion battery in it. Sold it for $125 and the drywaller who came to pick it up was over the moon as apparently they're $300 not including a battery to buy new. The thing looked 90% new and worked perfectly.

Call me a dumpster diver or whatever, but meh, I've probably made $500 in the last few years just quietly removing stuff from the electronics recycling bin there and bringing it home while getting rid of my own (actual) old electronics bound for recycling.

Just after new years is apparently a good time when people throw out the Christmas gifts they don't have any use for.

I have a dud and I haven't had my PA fix for a while. It sounds like a good deal.

For PA they're paying you in merchandise so it doesn't cost them $15 but the gift card is $15 cash you can spend on necessities like a few Tyskies.

For me, it's as good as cash since there's always something I need that they have cheap and fair quality for the price.

Is there a limit to how many you can bring?

They said bring as many as you like on their Facebook page. I'm sure they will regret saying that

Based on GTAM members, 5 or 6 batteries didn't seem to be a problem last year. Just don't be "that guy" that ruins it for everyone else (cough-RFD-cough) by backing up a truck.
Classic RFD move, I haven't lurked that forum in about 10 years..miss those guys lol

The reality is that a lot of the gift cards that they will issue will never be used as people will either loose them or forget them at home.

To the company they seen as a future credit to the customer so they are not really loosing out on anything by issuing them.

And the ones that do use them, it will be for purchases that are probably over $15. It is an easy way to get people in the door and spend some $$$.
