I got a chance to finally try a DRZ400sm at the Brampton Powersports demo day this weekend. Felt really strange compared to the V-Strom, but after riding it for about 10 minutes I started having a lot of fun. Not sure I'd be ready to do the 120kph you were doing on dirt road though. :p

Whereabouts were you riding here? I can't think of anywhere I've seen near PH that has a road like that. Also, what kind of tires do you have on the DRZ? I'm considering one, but probably not til at least next year sometime...
 
I'm running the Pilot Road 2 tire. Sport touring rain tire. Not the kind of tire you usually see on a supermoto... But hey, I have like 11 000 K or so on them and they still look brand new other than being dirty.
 
Wow, I'm impressed at how well they performed in your video -- I wouldn't think they'd grip so well on the dirt road. The 400SM I test rode had street tires as well -- didn't think to check which ones, but I assume they were whatever comes stock -- and they seemed to handle quite well. Such a different feel to that bike though; had no idea the seating position and overall handling would be so completely different from any of the bikes I've been on to date.

Do you frequently go offroading with those tires, or switch between them and something else? I'm considering a set of TKC80's, or the Heidenau K60, or something similar for my next tires, as the Tourance EXP's on my Wee have squared off a fair bit after 13,000KM or so.
 
I bought it with the graphics package, I don't usually go offroad with the tires. That trail is easy the lane has the gravel moved away to the centre and it is hard packed. Still a bit slippery but it is the best part of my journey from Ottawa to Port Hope. :D
 
You should have had someone on the highway pacing you, would have looked cool to see you every once in a while through the tree openings.
 
Sorry just riding by myself on the way home, next week I will be able to do this with a pacer. My top speed was done last year when I read 125 on my speedo. :D

The fly by when the camera is on the ground is 121.
