1000cc Sport Bikes - Non-Surcharged, Considered Standard

Are you absolutely sure about the Z1K not being surcharged? Because if it'sn't I think I just decided my next bike.

You do realize that many of the bikes on your list are surcharged supersports right?

The FZR and CBR for instance. Revise your list after you actually check these things out. Use the TD online quote to give you a ballpark figure. The SV1000S will most likely give you the best rate.

the z1000 and the duc streetfighter are best options
i currently have an 04 gsxr1000, and in a few seasons thinking of hoping onto a new z1000 or a streetfigther.. pretty nice bikes
ohh and theres triumph speed triple ;)

Do you realize Jevco exempts sportbikes from 1995 and older?

No I didn't. It's been a while since I looked at Jevco since they first ****** me off with their blacklist. Has this been a recent change or older?

couple of years at least.

Im 21, and needed a non blacklisted yet satisfying bike.

I ended up with the SV1000S. Amazing decision on my part.
My buddy (23) ended up with a 2011 z1000. Amazing decision on his part.

both really good bikes. Mine has more "character" engine-wise. Whether that is a good or bad thing arguable.
I'd like to think it's a good thing lol

I just don't see anypoint going from a sv650 to a sv1000, it wouldn't be much of a different experience, same bike, same design, has like 40, 50 more horsepower and more torque. I would rather go to a bike I havn't tried before, or something a little more powerfull for the displacement

Leaning more towards 1125r, fz1 or the Tuono 1000R. All seem to have the best power to weight ratio, compared to bikes like the Z1 and SV1000 and within 80-100 dollars insurance difference a year

If you do get one, stay away from the 2009 models - they have serious stator problems, and the fix HD issued (different wiring harness) isn't really up to snuff. The 08 models have leaky clutch covers, but that should be fixed under warranty (ship with Rev. A, latest version is Rev. C (which I just had installed)). If you can get the 2010 model, which is very rare, they've got all the problems fixed and also have a oil level site glass, which is handy.

Any other questions about the Buell 1125 platform fire me a PM. Can point you in the right direction with lots of different things.

Later!

I agree with everything else you say about wanting something different but the above statement is kind of crazy. 40 or 50 hp isn't that much different? With a lot more torque? That's insane. :)

Where can you insure a busa for close to the price of a SV1000S. I'm paying 695 at Javco for my SV, Busa would have been almost 3G.

You don't have to be class leading when deciding which bike you get. I was on a budget and looking for a good used deal. My bike has "character" and that's what I enjoy about it.

The fz1 was (in my opinion) a little boring to sit on (never rode though). The tuono is rare and expensive usually.

My SV1000S eats 650's for breakfast. The feeling I get from pulling up somewhere, everyone being like "oh look another sv650s he must be a budget commuter/ beginner, etc...., and then the look on their faces as I power wheelie away and leave everyone in the dust in the low rpm range makes me feel perfectly fine about "having a bike that is a mere 40-50hp more than an sv650".

Don't bash peoples bikes! We choose our bikes for a reason lol.

Lastly, I am in the "it's more the rider and not the bike" category. I know that my SV, with simple suspension etc mods, will take on any bike (except maybe 1000+cc SS bikes), given that my skills as a rider are up to par.

The SV1000S is a street god.

Happy riding!

Edit: also never had the sv650S. So to me it would be why in all hell would I want a detuned SV1000S. I agree that after having the 1000 I would never pick up an SV650S unless it was for the track.

whoa whoa, i am not bashing anyones bike. I agree that the 40+ hp and torque upgrade would be awesome, i am just saying that is the difference between my bike and a sv1000. And I am not bashing the bike at all big twins are my favorite and if i could actually afford the insurance a RC51 would be my next bike. I am just saying that it wouldnt feel like much of a change. it would feel and look like my sv on crack, which is a good thing just not what i am looking for in my next motorcycle.

but you never know i am in love with my sv650 and 1000 could be in my future if i cant tear my self away from the ol sv

I'm not trying to bash you either my friend.
Just justifying my bike choice lol. Even though I have a lower HP 1000cc, it still kicks butt.

Also, when I got my SV the jevco blacklist excluded the tuono and the buell (i think).

To be honest I would have got a tuono if I could have found one for cheap in good condition.
