Hey guys,

Some of you may have seen my facebook post https://www.facebook.com/groups/105833552817943/permalink/890027217731902/

My 2009 CBR600RR started showing that I'm going REALLY fast. Seems to be 2-3x what I'm actually going. It was working perfectly fine, then all of a sudden I'm going super fast (or so it says)

I DO NOT have a speedohealer, but do have a Power Commander (though that shouldn't affect it?)

I figured the speed sensor died randomly, so I got this http://www.ebay.com/itm/400965449998

Installed it just now, same issue :(

Any ideas? or a recommendation on a shop? The weather is getting colder and I'm looking to hit the road now that it's not deathly humid out *sigh*

Electrical connections between the sensor and gauge may be corroded or the contacts may be poor. This corrosion can degrade the signal from the sensor which upsets the speedometer. Locate all plugs in the circuit between the sensor (Pink/Green) and gauge and clean them with a product like DeOxit. According to the schematic, there is a 20 pin connector on the harness as well as a connector at the Multigauge. Check the pins to make sure they are strongly sprung and making good mechanical contact with each other. One good method of cleaning is to separate the plug, spray the pins with DeOxit and plug/unplug the connector several time. This action wipes the contacts and help the cleaner to remove any corrosion.

Also, check the ground point (Green/Black) on the bike. Disconnect the ground connections clustered there and clean them as well as the bare metal spot on the frame. Also check the battery ground connection. Bad or intermittent grounding can cause odd electrical behaviour.
